If you have never been to super cheap you have to take a look,be warned its a huge barn like shed with no air conditioning and not a lot of parking so don't go on a hot day. They stock food, fruit and vege, kitchen ware, automotive supplies, garden supplies, general hardware, industrial supplies(welders, compressors, cement mixers etc),furniture, bedding etc the range of products is huge and most of there prices are good, its on the road from phuket town to the airport about half way between phuket town and the bypass road just past the esso garage heading out.

I've never seen the point of it . Macro does everything much better and nomore expensive

and watch for the large hairy black rats around the rice sacks! at Super cheap.

And Macro also has no AC!

A Thai told me once, not to be fooled by the tin roof and no ac at Super Cheap. IT gives you the impression that it is super cheaper but it is not always necessarily so!

Macro is a good store but has no where near the range of products that super cheap has and since i don't by rice at super cheap the rats don't bother me in fact there are rats everywhere in phuket the same as other country's you just don't see them, i still think there are people who would find the store interesting.

You forgot to mention their pharmacy which is by ways the best place to buy medicine in Phuket. Buying there saves me about 800 Baht per month on medication. The pharmacy is near the rice ( where you find the hairy black rats :) )

Do you ever wonder why their medice is 800baht a month cheaper? I would be leary of a price difference like that.

I have bought medication at super cheap also, its the same imported brands you buy from the phamacys but far cheaper.

Because they sell at wholesale prices and you cut out the middleman. Many Phuket pharmacies buy their stock from SuperCheap

Shouldn't you store medicine cold and dry? Seem to me that this place is hot and humid, so maybe some of the effect of the medicine is gone/destroyed.. In the drugstores they at least have AC.

Now I don't live in Pattaya but I went many times to my local Macro store (60 km away ) and they have nothing at all the only thing they have is Cumberland Sausages cheddar chese and that is it.

No tinned vegatables like peas and no nothing at all. I am not english but I believe Macro is an english

company but why don't they sell a lot more western food?

I have been there a few times. My GF and I went the other day. After we were discussing how it was odd that we have found many items to be much cheaper at other places around the island, considering supercheap is a wholesaler/distributor. They are making huge margins by buying cheap and limiting their overhead (literally) with the bamboo and tin roof construction, no AC and Burmese laborers. And if you go, be sure to wear shoes covering your heels. Thais operate shopping carts the same way they drive. You will get your heels run into many times. And I hate the carts with the swiveling rear wheels which seem popular in Thailand. Difficult to control and maneuver, dam_n near impossible if you have anything heavy in it. And of course no one speaks English there.

"no one speaeks english here" is contrary to "burmese laborer".... :)

We go to Supercheap quite often. Yes, it is hot and non-ac, so we go there early in the morning. We find a lot of things cheaper there than elsewhere, however, sometimes some of the vegetables are not too fresh. The medicines, they have a large selection. I buy some, I guess not with every type it is important to keep them cool. They also have a computer section with good prices, this one is air-conditioned.

One thing to beware off though, do not use your credit card there, pay in cash. I had my credit cvard copied by their staff when I used it once, and it had to be cancelled.

Madam likes to go to Supercheap about once a month, stocking up on bags of garden compost, and fish food (we feed the fish in the klong at the rear of our house). I don't even venture inside because of the heat, only wait in the car to unload the trolley afterwards!

Ive found it to be quite cheap especially in comparison to Tesco/Big C. I dont think it can be disputed that the range of products in Supercheap is by far the biggest on the island.

It is always possible to buy products cheaper if you drive around going to different independant sellers. If you want everything under one roof at a generally cheap price then IMO you cant go wrong.

Go to Santi Pharmacy in Phuket Town. A/c , and all the girls know about medecine, very helpful and charming

and to cap it all cheapest on phuket arguable, but we have been using it for 5 years, I need a lot of pills!

Although shopping there can be quite an experience, I would hate to get trapped inside if a fire broke out -- and the roof is supported by sticks! Ill take Tesco any day.

RASSADA, PHUKET: Shoppers at discount retailer Supercheap got a scare early this morning when three sections of roof blew off and fell onto the merchandise below, causing considerable damage and a public panic.

Fortunately, there were no deaths or injuries.

Enjoy your shopping !!

And it gets even better, entertainment free of charge.

I have been there a couple of times long ago. Someone advised me about cheap drugstore. But sorry, empty handed out again. Not gets logical for me to do shopping for things I shall put in meat a place which is dusty and I feel uncomfortable. :)

Not quite. Santi gets very little from Super Cheap, if anything. They both can buy direct from manufacturers, and both are distributors/wholesalers for most items. (I know because they are both customers of mine.)
