Thailand's Tourism Shows Sign Of Recovery, Says Finance Minister

Any recovery is going to have to happen without Americans. Bernanke is doing his damndest to collapse the US Dollar against the global currency markets. Even if he doesn't manage that, with reported unemployment (the "headline number", or U-3) at 9.7% and real unemployment (U-6) at well over 17%, and with workers getting paycuts or "furloughs", I can guarantee you folks aren't going to see many of us taking trips to sunny Thailand this Christmas.

Of course, if Thailand maintains its baht against the USD, maybe the Europeans can flock in to snap up the bargain prices.

Nah...

European airlines are complaining; tourism/seats to the Far East is still down,

Apart from that, Farang tourism to Thailand is not the most important.

More than 60% comes from SE and Asia itself.
