Hi! I´m moving to Kalasin (from Sweden) with a non o imm. visa next month and I guess I have to go to Nakhon Phanom to do the extension. I think I will choose the retirement route as I can meet the requirement. I am over 60 and married to a thai woman. It would be interesting to know what you think of the staff there. Are they good to deal with? Or do they require more than the rules say?

l do my reporting and extensions there and reckon they are great ,, compared to Nong Khai ,, they dont seem to ask for any of the things that other guys are talking about ,, be neat and tidy ,, treat them with respect and no problem ,,,

cheers

Ben,

First, Welcome to Kalasin (next month)...

I have lived in Kalasin for 8+ years now and delt with Immg. in Mukdahan for most of that, then Immg. decided that us "Kalasin residents" should be going to Nakhon Phanom... At first I was not happy as the drive from Kalasin to Nakhon Phanom is about an hour longer than the two hours to Mukdahan, but after doing just one Extension there I was more than pleased... They were pleasant, fast and efficent and for the first time ever I had a Thai Immg. Officer tell me "Thank You for coming"...

I would be content to keep going to Nakhon Phanom, but with the new Khon Kaen office only being an hour's drive and Nakhon Phanom being almost 3 hours, I would hope that we can use the Khon Kaen office once it is up and running...
