We all love our team, and no doubt we all have a particular match that we remember as something special.

A home tie against Aston Villa in the early 90's. The BBC where at the County Ground for the first time ever for a live match and the atmosphere was electric. We dominated throughout and should have won but in the the end the finer quality of Villa prevailed and they went through to the next round thanks to a world class winner from Carl Froggatt.

Having said that the game at Wembley V's Leicester which saw us go to the prem was something else. Wembley stadium full to capacity is a sight to behold, escpecialy when half of that huge crowd support your team. As good a day as it was at Wembley though, the best part of the day was the trip back home down the M4 to Swindon. A trip that would normally take 2 hours on a bad day turned into a 6 hour road party because the sheer number of red and white adorned cars, buses and coaches often stopped traffic altogether and the sea of red and white when arriving into Swindon Town itself is a sight so impressive that words alone will not it justice.

A lifetime experience for me that shall never forget and I am sure that most of you have experienced something similar.

This post was inspired by this following clip, what a sight it must have been to see in person.

So many good ones, but the top one probably was white hart lane 23rd of may 1984 second leg of the uefa cup final v anderlecht first leg. 1st away leg drawn 1-1 second leg was 1-1 after extra time and step up reserve team teenage keeper Tony parks to save the day. Was the 1st penalty shoot out ide ever seen. the tension was absolutely unbelievable. .

Really haven't been to enough games, but it has to be Portland Timbers vs. Seattle Sounders in Portland this year, U.S. Open Cup. Been to a few Thailand matches and the Liverpool vs. Thailand match, but as this match was a NW derby, and the atmosphere was truly fantastic. I know it was in the U.S., but it was really a great atmosphere.

First sellout in Portland Timbers history, and the supporters sections were wild and never sat down. Stadium fit around 16,000, so probably around the size of the average Championship club's ground. For the first time, I actually felt like I was experiencing a proper football match just like the matches I see from England and Germany (known to have great atmosphere and highest attendance of any European league I believe) on the television. Words are hard to describe it and some of the moments raised the hair on the back of my neck. Really a great time had by all and saw one good fight down below me in the beer patio.

The only thing that would have made it better would have been songs but American fans like to chant, so there was some of that going on, and plenty of other strange, rehearsed vocal sounds.

For me it was the FA cup replay 1983, Brighton vs Man Utd. The last match i ever watched of my home team. They were completely outclassed but the atmosphere was brilliant.

Like others have said, too many to mention. But two games in particular will stick with me forever.

Man City V Gillingham, Wembley, 30th May 1999, Division 2 play off's. Waaaay too many emotions going through me, we were losing with only minutes to go. We got an equaliser and beat them on penalties. What a Roller Coaster ride it is being a City fan.

And the 11th May 2003. The final game ever to be played at Maine Road. Talk about lump in your throat, that was a weird but special day.

Thta was a bit special, for any Football Fan to be honest, unless you're Gillingham...

FA Cup semi-final vs Nottingham Forest at Villa Park 1991

1-0 Down

Billy Bonds Claret and Blue Army !

2-0

Billy Bonds Claret and Blue Army !

3-0

Billy Bonds Claret and Blue Army !

4-0

Billy Bonds Claret and Blue Army !

And it just got louder and louder. West Ham supporters at their very best

2003 Div 1 play-offs semi final versus Ipswich at home was a very special atmosphere too.

Rochdale vs Halifax in 1988 (I think)

We had to win to be sure of avoiding the drop as did the Yorkshire scum.

I'd like to say that it was a nail biter but Dale were 2 up after 15 mins and 3 up at HT on their way to a 5-3 win which sent Halifax down.

The sight of 3000 Tykes blubbing as we celebrated io the pitch at the end will remain with me as long as I live!!

Also Rob Wakenshaw scored one of the best goals I've ever seen. Took the ball on his chest, on to his left, flipped it onto his right and volleyed it into the top corner from the edge of the area! Class!!

Smoking a joint with some Arsenal supports in Parc de Prince (Paris) and watching Real Zaragoza player score from the half way line. I nearly cheered as I was stoned and am a Man Utd supporter. Could have been nasty.

Nidge don't know if you can remember but Stevie foster, Stevie foster what a difference you have made what a difference you have made. Also your lot did my head in with seagulls seagulls. I was only 13 at the time and it was a great atmo.

1. Barca at OT in early eighties. Maradona and schuster were playing for them and we beat them 3 0 after being 2.0 down from the first leg. Have some great memories of good atmo at OT in the eighties but sadly as at other grounds nowadays, it the prawn sarnie mob who rule :D

2.In Rotterdam 91 cup winners cup final v barca. pissing down and singing oh sit down oh sit down from the band James.

3. fa cup semi finals 85 v liverpool at goodison park and maine road reply were good.

4. sheff wed at home 92/93 when brucie scored twice in the last 5 mins when we knew our long wait for the league was coming to an end (Yes, mr Bo, it was in injury time :) )

5. Cystal Palace night match won 2.0 and coming out of the ground singing now your gonna believe us, we're gonna win the league. the train journey home was mint also.

the list could go on

Always enjoyed anfield, west ham away in the eighties, early ninties also

Wembley 1978 cup final, we slaughtered them.

The semi-final at Highbury, against West Brom, had a great atmosphere too (not the usual 'library' hush...).

Went to every round that year except away to Milwall (my dad wouldn't take an 8 year old...), just as well cause at half time, with the score at 0 - 6, the local fans decided to riot.

I remember Steve Foster, (i'm not totally senile just yet!). Yes he wore a headband and desperately needed a haircut. He was a great player most of the time.

Also jjp, i think you are mistaken with the "seagulls seagulls" chant, it was closer to "seagulls seagulls seagulls seagulls seagulls seagulls" :)

Is your head done in again!

For me it was Feb 23, 2002, the first time in 20 years plus that we had played Sheffield wednesday in the league at Hilsborough, we beat them 2-1 with a goal in the 90th minute, it was like we had won the Fa cup, grand national and the six nations all at once. To make it even better we did exactly the same thing the season after scoring about 3 minues into injury time.

liverpool 4-3 newcastle in '96 was ridiculous. istanbul in 2005 was incredible from the moment that gerrard scored to make it 3-1. but for hairs on the back of the neck the chelsea semi-final at anfield in 2007 was fantastic. any game against everton is a brilliant buzz too, as are aways at leeds, portsmouth and oddly, fulham.

At least unlike normal seagulls they weren't stealing peoples food and shitting on them. :)

Best atmosphere at a game I have been at was in Barranquilla, Colombia in 1995.

Game was between Barranquilla and Cali .

Carlos Valderama was playing, stewards in battle dress with machine guns( not joking) and drinks being thrown left , right and centre at everyone and everything.

Great.

Cant remember the score but it was a blood bath on the pitch........its a funny old game.

Every one had a great time.
