Anyone know what this little fella is? There appear to be two that have taken up residence in the garden. I put my hand into the pot earlier to get something and it wizzed past. I almost had kittens. If it's something poisonous I will move it on to somewhere else before the cats find it.

I'm not an expert, but that looks nothing like a golden tree snake!

Perhaps there are different types, but I've seen lots of golden tree snakes in my garden and they weren't striped like the picture shown in the post.

Might be better asking the Plants, Pets and Vets section.

Any mods about that could move the thread for for me? Rather than re-post. Thanks for the suggestions so far guys. Having looked at pictures of the golden tree snake, I'm not convinced. And I think the bands are too narrow to be the Banded Krait...

Had a banded krait fall from a tree and miss me by a foot when I was in that tea garden in Chiang Mai. Having looked at photos of both that one and the golden tree snake just now, your pair could be the reptile equivalent of luk krungs!!!

First thing that came to mind was a banded krait.

Moved to Pets forum.

Well, you wouldn't want a banded kait as a pet. :) Most deadly snake in Thailand. It's not a Mangrove Snake as the bars are not wide enough, and probably not a Kait for the same reason. My guess is a Golden tree Snake, but I don't have my guide book to hand. I wouldn't get too close to it for the time being.

Definitely not a Golden tree Snake which is here:

Golden Tree Snake

I don't think its a Krait, more likely a Wolf snake.

But actually looking at the picture again maybe not - its body does resemble a tree snake

NOT a krait, wolf snake, mangrove snake etc.....

They are juvenile (young) Golden Tree Snakes.. Nothing to fear.. :)

That's it exactly! That's what I saw. Prize goes to Goshawk...

TY. Cats are safe.

In Thai the banded krait is called Ngu Sarm Liam, which translated into English is "triangular snake" or "three angled snake". So there you are.
