Protection For Broken Finger

Featured Replies

I have broken my finger two months ago. A piece of bone was broken off. It's healing quite well, but my doctor insists not playing any football for another two months, just to be on the safe side.

I want to see if I can have some protective 'thing' made that allows me to play with low risk of hurting my broken finger. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

From what I have observed, the best protection for your finger in Thailand would be in your nose!

There are leather sleeves made to protect damaged fingers , but the best way I have seen is to tape it to the next finger .

Above is fine for ordinary activities but not for a contact sport.

Normally would not need 4 months avoidance for a fracture but as a piece of bone broke off, new bone has to be built up and this may be the concern, un til that has fully occurred finger will be vulnerable to re-fracture.

Thanks for the reaction! Are you saying I would take too much risk if I would start before the end of the 4 months recovery period? Doctor says recovery period of 4 months applies to a goalkeeper and a fieldplayer, which I find a bit odd (I am fieldplayer).
