As most of us know, often people find out about certain events by reading the newspaper reports after the event!

Somehow the authorities do not seem to be keen on letting the world know of their events before they actually take place :)

Same again on the rowing competition another member announced, they installed the banners around the lake yesterday (Thursday) for the Saturday/Sunday event!

So here we go:

12th South East Asian rowing championship

16 to 18 October. At Lake Mabprachan Dam. Directions here.

Loi Khratong Festival

29 October till 2 November, with the main day obviously on the 2nd.

Location, opposite the temple at Lake Mabprachan.

This is actually a very pleasant alternative to the madness in Pattaya, much more "original Thai style" and atmosphere as opposed to the commerciality of the Pattaya event.

There will also be a big fair at Wat Nong Prue, which is only about 3 km away from Lake Mabprachan, on the road leading towards Naklua (Soi Chayapornviti).

Long Tail Boat races and Buffalo Races

21 and 22 November

The long tail boat races are at the dam, the Bufallo races opposite the temple. Directions as per above.

I had the same feeling, reading the last edition of Pattaya Today and thinking, I would have liked to go to that if I'd known about it.

So thanks for posting these Monty!

I'll add one event I'm planning to attend is on Halloween - Pattaya Players is putting on a haunted ghost story tour along with amusement park rides & games for kids. Says there will also be food & drinks available, too. Not bad for BHT 200 if you ask me. It's at Horsehoe Point / Three Kingdoms Park. You can Google 'Pattaya Players' for their website and more info.

Sounds like there's lots of fun to be had in the coming weeks! :)

Pattaya Longboat Competition begins.

Pattaya, November 21 [PATTAYA ONE NEWS] : On Saturday Morning, the grand opening took place of the Annual Pattaya Long Boat Competition, (shown live on Channel 3 on Sophon Cable TV). This two day event is taken very seriously by the competitors who are competing for the Crown Princess Sirintorn and Princess Somsawalee Trophies. Khun Sontaya, former Sports and Tourism Minister officiated at the grand opening of the two day event and on the first day of competition at the Maprachan Reservoir, large crowds turned out to cheer on their favorite teams. The racing, backed up by some high energy commentary, was fast and exciting and if you have the time, we suggest you visit the Reservoir on Sunday for the second and final day of racing. To add to the entertainment there is also buffalo racing where entrants are competing for the Queen Sirigit Trophy. There is also plenty of food and drink stalls to make it a really fun day out for you, your friends and family.
