As a tourist, resident or human being anywhere in the world....you dont deserve respect just because you are....

Respect is earned not given

Are you saying that I should treat all people with contempt until they have earned my respect ?

The most odd retort ever.

Yes, it is possible, in theory, that he has Danish citizenship - but it was already established in the news post that a previous boyfriend of hers was a Danish and that the OP must have gotten things mixed up somewhere.

So the chances of your theory being correct is pretty much close to zero.

So this was not her 1st Farang relationship. How many farangs has she taken home? Where does she live and what does she do for a living. I don't want to cast any negative thoughts but I see either the bar girl or simply a farang chaser. Does anyone have any background information on this woman and her family so we can get a clearer picture.

The Arab man now turns out to be a Canadia(!) - although with parents from Dubai. According to the newspaper Komchadluek, his name is Andrew, aged 35. They also say his chat-name on Yahoo is Adam - where his age is 32. The paper further says the car has been found already - he had driven it to the bus station and left it there. The paper can even tell us where he lives: In Rachadapisek Soi 12 in Bangkok together with six friends. Or maybe it should be lived...

So you are saying that any Thai girl that has had 2 or more foreign boyfriends are BG's?

Wow, maybe you are living in Issan or something, but for many Bangkokian uni-girls (former and present) it is for example not uncommon to have had several boyfriends and chances are they are not all Thai...

Was not implying that at all just trying to get some background and possible reasons why this man did what he did. Was he only trying to recoupe what may have been taken from him from such a girl

So the Bangkok Post screwed up and then failed to print a retraction or clarify. They seem to, in perfect Thai tradition, used the honored Kayep kayep approach … (with kudos to Pumpuang) ignore their mistake, let the evil foreigner farang story uncorrected and head for greener pastures. Doh!

Can we connect this in any way to the Kennedy assassination or OJ Simpson? ... for the Euro's on the board, what does this say about the Olof Palme assassination or the Lord Lucan disappearance. Can we connect this up? Is someone going to try?

Do I care?

Sounds entirely plausible. He probably bought the car (how often does the Thai woman buy the car when she's steady with a farang?). Perhaps their relationship was on the ropes. She says, 'no way, dude, car in my name, I keep for me!" He waits until they're crashed out, and takes off with it. Soon after the woman and her family realize what's happened, they concoct stories to make it sound like a bigger deal. Local cops agree with the dramatized version, ....why wouldn't they?

plausible for what reasons? only your own mind of prejudice, bias and stereotypes becomes true here.

have you never seen thais driving their own cars? or is the whole traffic jam in Bangkok or Chiang Mai, all cars of course, sponsored by 'falangs'?

any thai woman that socialise with a western foreigner must be of course a drunkard, liar and just want cheat the money and car out of the innocent 'farang'?

Why so defensive and nationalistic? I assume that you are Thai and that your grasp of the finer points of the English language is, shall we say, tenuous? Plausible means capable of being believable, or even valid. No posts state that the purported facts that have gone before touch base with reality or that the opinions stated, which are based on such probably inaccurate information as is available, have any validity. They are, nevertheless plausible, a tag that is sadly missing from so many Thai police reports.

The quotes in this post are merely the opinions of those posters, nothing else. You need to understand the the vast majority of farangs come from democratic, developed countries and are conditioned, for better or for worse, to speaking what is on their minds. This state of affairs, to your detriment, does not obtain in Thailand.

The posters are merely being typical farangs so why don't you be typically Thai and judge the postings of us 'lesser peoples' as so much tosh and give your predilection for the 'mai pen rai attitude' full rein?

what has it to do with being nationalistic if i point out that you should not judge and blame persons just because of their nationality?

i think you and your buddies you defend do not grasp the finer points where racialism and xenophobia starts.

If you want to look at racism and xenophobia in Thailand, you don't need to look far. Even in the 'help wanted ads' posted by Thai companies you'll see specifications of nationality and age and appearance. They don't even try to hide it. You don't see that in western countries. Neither does a non-native person hear the word 'foreigner' spoken repeatedly wherever he/she goes in a western country, as one hears here - incessantly hearing the word 'farang' no matter what the activity - even by adopted family members of all ages.

Roomford, if you interact on T.Visa, you're going to hear references to various nationalities. Not rarely will there be non-flattering references and generalities about Thai people. This forum is, after all, based in Thailand. Some comments will be on the mark, some won't, but it's highly subjective nevertheless. If you want to position yourself as an angry apologist for Thais on this forum, then you've taken on a whole lot of activity for yourself. The generalizations and zingers aren't going to abate, and you may find yourself irritable about a lot of things much of the time. Better for your well-being to try and find a way to roll with it. Go ahead and respond whatever ways you choose, but don't feel like you have to take on the giant issue of defending Thai characteristics - unless you want to get upset on an on-going basis.

if this thread had gone into a direction of bashing the Danish people i would had exactly written the same. don't stereotype and draw your conclusions just based on the information of someones nationality, race, or family names that sound maybe foreign to you or the persons gender.

i didn't defend here any guilty persons or brought apologies for them or denied their wrongdoings.

I always read here something like Thai are bad and foreigners are good, there are a lot of thai very rich more than anyone can think , there are a lot of foreigner who ocme here only for sex, drugs and drinking and many times they hit ladies and fight. Maybe this man is a professional thief in his country and is normal for him to do that , maybe he just try to get back what think he bought , but in the wrong form. I really don't like to read everytime you foreigners are good and all others are bad, why you stay here ?

I read the forum everyday but i don't like to write because almost all of you are stupid and always answer like " thai ladies are bad " , " she only cheat and get his money"... Why you don't look inside yourself on why you are here ? is better then your country ? If yes is also better if you respect the place where you live now and respect the person. If not why you don't go back to your country ?

Remember one thing , you go to ATM or Bank to take money and the thai people go to bank to deposit your money, who is clever now ?

Sometimes instead then speak and offend a population is better shut up...

You brought up an interesting argument that is seems to be coming from a sense of nationalism, which I commend. But I think that when ThaiVisa members make these assumptions of "he was stealing back his own things" and such, they are relying on some level of statistics. Yes, there is a chance that this Danish guy really did amaze us all by being a true criminal off to hit the mother-load, golden jackpot in Phitsanulok, Thailand. On the other hand, the chances of the truth in a "foreign national's" story being bent or scewed...... is absolutely far higher and much more common that the previous.

It is like driving your car home and you hear a thud at the back of your car. We think, "Who the hel_l hit me?" Why? Because that is likely the best explanation following statistics. Not that you were asleep at the wheel and happened to be driving backwards into a taxi. That doesn't sound very logical, does it.

And this whining thing about foreigners hitting girls? You should look into your comments... I think you would find that the rate of Thai-Thai spousal abuse and domestic violence is highest in Thailand than in any western country. Some slip through the cracks and make it to Thailand. But marking us as stereotypers and then basing arguments off of speculative observation doesn't change any minds. But I can guess that this issue of foreigner in Thailand is much more complex in your mind because you have seen millions and millions of foreigners come in and out of this country all doing different, illegitimate things. It must be heartfelt for you.

I mean, what the hel_l would I know about living in a country being flooded with foreigners? I am from the states... so I know nothing. Our population is 100% pure. We have absoutely no Mexicans, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Hmongs, Africans, Pakistanis, Indians, Koreans, Philippinos, Indonesians, Iranians, Cubans. Nope, never seen one of those nationalities come in and settle down in my home country.

There was a bit more in the Thai press about the story, although parts of it do perhaps seem a little hard to believe.

According to the daughter of the family, she worked in the credit department of the Nissan Motor Company in Nakon Sawan and met the farang on the dateinasia.com website. Over time they began chatting via computer and mobile phone. He said he'd been posted to work in Thailand by his company, which made machinery.

One weekend she was going back to her family's house in Phitsanuloke, after finishing work for the weekend, and he asked to come along. As she was driving she heard him on the phone and could make out that he was in some financial difficulty and needed 70k Baht. At the end of the conversation he apparently half-jokingly asked her for the money, saying he'd pay it back in a week's time.

Back at the house, he left for a while and came back with some KFC chicken, doughnuts and orange juice and gave the pieces of doughnut to the family members. They woke up later with the car, laptop computer, gold chain, diamond ring and other valuables missing, although the car was later found abandoned in Uthai Thani.

He initially said his name was Andrew, Canadian and that he was 35, although his MSN and Yahoo profiles stated his name as Adam, aged 32.

He's described as a 'fair-eyed farang' although the police don't know his real name and nationality for sure and are still investigating the matter.

The rest of the news article warns about the dangers of internet dating to Thai women.

so you have statistical data available about how many thai woman owning a car. and that for nearly all of them it is the case that a Dane had paid for that car?

so that the statitical odds that they bought the car from their own money are similar to sleep in a car that suddenly drive backwards and bump into a taxi.

and you are from the states, that mean USofA?

i heard some theory that the whole thing was cooked up by the offspring of some religious separatists who came with a ship named mayflower across the atlantic. originally from england, but before they took the long voyage they settled in the Netherland for awhile. doing typical expat jobs like teaching english, being in the booze business or didn't had any sufficient income at all, so they failed to brainwash the locals with their pilgrim believes, meanwhile their children assimilate to much with the dutch for their parents taste. so they set the sails, arrived in america and started a tradition of killing natives. and later even dressed up us them to stir up some sh't in disguise (start of another tradition) because the tea wasn't cheap enough. okay that have been the early rough days of americas holy white people, white as in 100% pure WASP. but they can change. a WASP mans best friend is the dog and today they let even the son of an irish mother walk their dog. Bo is the name, the dogs name, right?

What happened to the earlier assertion that the culprit was an Arab? Now we're back to the 'fair eyed farang' thing. I haven't read the links, but who is asserting that someone said something 'half-jokingly'? Even if you know someone well, you can't always be sure whether what they're saying is said 'half-jokingly.'

How do you put debilitating chemicals in cooked chicken? Were there any toxicology tests done on the Thai folks directly after the police report? ....about as likely as Thaksin getting nominated for next Pope.

I stick with my theory that the girl was jilted by the guy, she wouldn't give back the car that the guy bought, so he took it. When she and her family realized he'd gone and taken the car, they concocted the 'drugged' story and added other valuables to the list, in order to make it a more serious heist. Now they're spinning the story by adding the 'he needed seventy thousand baht' thing that 'she thinks she overhead, but isn't sure.'

What a silly scenario, rife with farang-bashing ammunition for those who want to indulge in such. For sure there are rip-off farang in Thailand, but the mutating scenarios put forth for this one are not sound.

Soooooo , if he had supplied the items taken by this Danish/Canadianarab/fair-eyed and managed to get them all back , good luck , if however he actualy stole them as proffessed by the suffering G/F , i hope they catch him and he gets all he desrves .

There are so many like stories that circulate here on TV and many more sites that get warped/distorted/added to/blown out of proportion etc basicaly due to the fact not enough evidence is supplied or posters just want to have a 'Hay-day' when a chance presents itself .

The problem as I see it , is that others rarely seem to take the warnings contained in these off beat posts , their BG/BF are so different and not A typical , so the scenarious are repeated adfinitum/adnausea for one and all to give what ever opion they have on the day in particular . Take it for all it is , fun and games for the more fortunate to brag about their fantasticaly beautiful/hi-so/well educated/pick of the crop/of chinese ancestry choice of lady who would NEVER do a disgusting thing like those expressed to them . Tra-la-la-la-la , Humpty-Dumpty sat on a wall , Humpty-Dumpty had a great fall , but of course , it will NEVER happen to this ulta intelligent/superbly edificated/disgracefully rich Falang , and so say all of us .

Have a nice day one and all .

so i assume your vote goes to that strange "me and my car" logic as the winning argument? the infantile attempt of a bull to substantiate his "statistics."

Any more news about this? The woman and her family were quick to go to the police to file a report. Any news on toxicology tests (?), preferably a.s.a.p. after the report was filed.

Thus far, we've heard a story about a Dane drugging a family and stealing a car and other valuables. Then we hear it was actually a Middle Eastern man. Later we hear it was a 'fair-haired' man who may have been in debt (substantiated by the Thai woman hearing one half of a phone call in a foreign language, and supposing something was inferred).

In some countries, it's a crime to make a false police report. I wouldn't expect such a law (if it existed in Thailand) would have any tangible consequences - beyond a tepid reprimand. Similarly, though not related to the OP, it's not against the law in Thailand to harbor a fugitive from justice.

Brings to mind a story reported in the major newspapers, several years ago: Right after the ww news emanating from the US of toxic chemicals being mailed anonymously, there was a copy-cat attempt within Thailand. An envelope with only mysterious white powder was rec'd by a Thai gov't agency. The sender was found, but he just laughed and said it was a gag. ha ha ha. No repercussions. Maybe next time he'll play a gag by trying to smuggle a fake bomb on to a US or Israeli commercial jet. I can promise him the authorities in attendance won't be giggling along with him and that gag.

Am I insinuating that Thai authorities are subjective with justice and soft on security? Yes.

It's also not uncommon for many Bangkokian uni girls to be bar girls/coyote girls/massage girls. Ramkhamhaeng is very popular for example. I met some co-students in Soi Cowboy a year ago for example, shared a bottle at some Thai club. . I also knew a Bangkok Uni girl who worked in a massage parlour. She'd hunt for farang boyfriends on Kaosan in the weekends, but stopped going because there was now 'too many whores' :) TIT?

You are a funny guy and I would love to keep on peddling this infantile subject. But it seems like it is getting off track with this bickering. Good day and good luck.

i meant the other cowboy, erm bullboy, bullbrain. but you get it right, there isn't much of any cultural heritage you could be soaked up. just these 'i drive my car home' logic, that seems to be for you and other a convincing explanation and evidence that another (assumed to be) white man just had taken back what a Thai women stole from him.
