Greetings gang.

I have an Non-immi "B" visa

which was granted 2 September 08

valid until 2 September 09.

Last re-entry To Thailand was

23 August 09 which gave me

a permission to stay date until

20 November 09.

I was under the impression that

I could apply for an extension of

stay that would give me an extra

60 days.

Today, was told by an Immigration

officer that I could only get 7 days

from the 20 November date.

Is that because the end date of the

original "B" has expired??

A pain in the arse as I will have to

either leave the country and apply

offshore or apply for a 1 year stay

as I'm married to a Thai.

Regards

Will

Suspect the immigration officer misunderstood you. He is correct that you can only obtain 7 day extension of stay on non-Immigrant visa.

You can obtain 60 day extension on basis of Thai wife. Visit immigration with wife. You will need to take with you marriage certificate, wife's ID card, tabbien bahn (house book), completed application form TM7, copies of passport pages and TM6 card + passport photo. Some offices are also asking for photos of you and wife around the house and map to house. Fee 1900 baht. Then apply for 12 month extension of stay based on marriage during the last 30 days of your permission to stay, if you meet the requirements: 400k in Thai bank account in your name for 2 months prior to application or 40k/month income (your money).

The Law that deals with this.

2.24 In the case of an alien

visiting a Thai spouse or child:

Permission

will be granted for a period of not more than 60 days at a time

(1) Proof of relationship.

(2) In the case of a spouse, their marital relationship shall be de

jure (legitimate) and de facto.
