Hi all,

:)

I am moving to Samui next week from Bangkok, and was wondering what prices are like there for TV', HIFI's, laptops etc, I was thinking of buying in BKK, then hiring a car to drive all the way down, I've checked a couple of companies, and think that would will cost about 3000baht plus fuel for a decent motor, but if prices are comparable, then i'd much rather fly over, and purchase what I need there.

Also I will be looking to rent a one-bed house or bungalow for about 4months in Lamai, could you tell me what would be acceptable for water and elec. prices per unit??, is there a lot of room for bargaining over rent at the moment?, I've not been to Samui at this time of year for ages so dunno how busy/quiet it is now. Also I would be able to pay for 4months upfront which im hoping will help.

I cant remember what rates were in my BKK apartment, but I was paying about 1000baht per month for bills, bearing in my mind I was only there 2 weeks out of the month though.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Sorry for all the questions, :D .

i was recently in bkk pricing tv'c up (52" 1080P lcd) and the prices was sliightly cheaper than here but.... as always there are deals going off both here and bkk so its a bit of a gamble. I do know that homepro (samui) had some 52' samsung series 6 going for 50k baht and i have just picked up a sony bravia 52" for 70k baht :) from sirisin (samui). Laptops from pantip plaza in bkk ofc, here cheap ones can also be picked up (i use Macbook pro so i only buy from apple online). GL

Cheers,

that sounds ok then, my girlf's there now actually and she said the 32in LG with bluetooth is 30,000 baht, so the same price as I have seen in BKK, and it has a good write-up. Thanks for the reply.

Any comments regarding elec/water prices in Samui?

Thanks in advance.

Hi tomth

Another option you could consider is to order things online. Prices for shipping with TNT are no different to the islands than anywhere else in Thailand. I know that 50 kg with TNT costs about 1000 baht, so that could possibly save you a long drive and some time as well (providing you can find what ever you are looking for online for decent prices of course).
