Does anyone know whether the Thai Consulate in Hull is issuing free Tourist Visas.

If so does this apply to single, double and triple entries?

From their website:

The Thailand Ministry of Foreign Affairs has today decided to re-introduce the waiving of the £28 fee for the Tourist Visa with Single Entry for the period 25 June 2009 to 04 March 2010. This concession does not apply to any other visas. During this period of 25 June 2009 to 04 March 2010 there will be an administration charge of £15 for the issue of the Tourist Visa with Single Entry.

The Tourist Visa with Single Entry allows a single stay in Thailand for a maximum of 60 days or 30 days (see below) from date of entry. Please note that the day you enter is counted as day one. If you exit Thailand at any time during the 60 or 30 days you will loose all the remaining days and you may not be able to re-enter Thailand without another visa. If you think this may apply to you, you should consider applying for a Tourist Visa with Two Entries (fee £56) or a Tourist Visa with Three Entries (fee £84). If you wish to spend more time in Thailand or wish to have a visa without restriction on the number of entries you may be able to apply for the Non-Immigrant Visa with Multiple Entries (fee £100) which is valid for one year.

Yes. Single only I think for free. However there is a £15 surcharge.

Your best place for a totally free tourist visa, one or two entries is the Thai Consulate in Liverpool.

They offer the same postal service as Hull, Birmingham and Cardiff except they do NOT charge an Admin fee, nor do they charge the full visa fee for a double entry tourist visas.

Royal Thai Consulate,

Boodles House,

Are you sure about that? The poster in the attached thread phoned the Consulate a couple of days ago and was advised there was a £15 admin charge ... :) What are the 'reduced' fees for double entry tourist visa?

On 25 September '09 I rang The Royal Thai Consulate in Liverpool and asked if Tourist Visas were free? Yes FREE

I then asked if they charged an admin fee? NO admin fee.

I also asked for my friend, who needed a two entry Tourist Visa. How much do you charge for a two entry Tourist Visa? Also FREE.

Hull will charge the full £56.00 for a two entry tourist visa !

That same day (Friday 25 Sept.'09) I sent our two passports via Royal Mail, registered delivery to the Royal Thai Consulate in Liverpool, to the address mentioned in my previous post.

On Tuesday 29 September '09 I received both passports back via Royal Mail registered delivery (I had provided the registered envelope).

My passport contained a single entry Tourist Visa, as requested and my friend's passport contained a double entry Tourist Visa, as requested.

Both Visas, my single entry and his double (two) entries were FREE, and NO admin fee was charged.

The only cost we had was the registered postage to and back from Liverpool.

On the return Royal Mail Registered delivery bag, Royal Mail had failed to 'Mark' the stamps, saving another £5.00.

I arrived on 07 October '09 and presented my one entry Tourist Visa at Immigration at Suvannabhumi airport. I got admitted for 60 days.

My friend arrives next week with his two entry Tourist Visa.

You may like to know that I was advised to come in on a Tourist Visa, so that the Ministry of Education could sponsor my Tourist Visa for conversion to a NON Immigrant B visa, which is what I did last Friday in Cheang Wattana without any problems. I had a letter of Sponsorship from the Ministry of Education. I also had to complete much paperwork and show all the original and correct qualifications. The fee for this was 2000 THB.

With this newly converted NON immigrant B visa (valid for 3 months) we went to the Ministry of labour, in the Din Deang Area, from where I will collect my Work Permit next week on 04 November '09.

Once the work permit is in my possession, I will need to return to Cheang Wattana just before 18 January 2010 (3 months from the conversion date), to get a one year extension on the (by then expired) NON immigrant B visa, although the one year extension will run hand in hand with the dates on my work permit. 04 November '09 to 03 November 2010.

So, as you can see I have done quite a bit of research in order to get everything correct, as I did not want to waste time and being told to go back to the UK and get a NON immigrant B from the Embassy in London.

I repeat again that Liverpool was TOTALLY FREE. Unless they have now changed these rules, it should be FREE, but only in Liverpool.

Double entry from Chicago was free. Can't say about Hull although I do think they charge a service fee there even if the visa is free.

And i wasn't charged anything for admin fee's or anything so free is free :D i was i little disapointed about paying $16 for 4 passport photo's down the street mind,as normally i've got 3 or 4 stashed with my passport but i've had to use them here in Ozzy the last 4 weeks!!! :)

Strangely, the Liverpool Consulate is now maintaining that to qualify for a free Tourist Visa the traveller must actually use the visa before 5 March rather than simply apply before that date, even though that seems to contradict the policy as announced by MFA.
