Hi everyone. I'm new here and I must say this forum has been very informative. I am planning to have Bleph and a mid-facelift in Thailand towards the end of February 2010. I'm seeking company, so if anyone is going that way to have cosmetic surgery also, would love to travel with you. Also please recommend a good surgeon with a good track record for Blepharoplasty. I have read a lot of good reports on Dr. Greechak, any other recommendations would be appreciated. :)

Hi!

I had upper eyelid surgery at Yanhee hospital, Dr.Greechart 3 months ago.

I just want to tell you in advance so you know, that IF you decide to go to Yanhee it is like a beauty surgery-factory - in every way!

There are rows of beds with people lying, (after they get their sedative pill,) waiting for eyelid surgery or nose surgery.

I had booked my appointment in advance with a lady called Carmen, very nice lady!

Yanhee hospital is not a posh hospital like Bumrungrad or Bangkok hospital, just so you know.

For facelift i have no experience but here is how my day was:

-I was there at 10AM, had the surgery about 14 o'clock, left the hospital around 16-17 o'clock in the afternoon.

There were lots of people there and if you want to have your surgery the same day (eyelid or nose) you need to be there at 10AM, i was told.

-Weight, bloodpressure was checked. I payed and got the medication (antibiotics, ointment for the wound and painkillers).

I also signed some medical forms about any previous conditions or medication i might take.

-I had a consultation with Dr.Greechart and he asked me if i wanted small, medium or large eyelids. I chose medium.

He made some markings with a red and blue pen and i also had to lie down so that he could see what it would look like as my face was relaxed.

-Later on i was given the sedative pill. As i was given the sedative pill, i fell asleep but woke up a bit later.

-Then they rolled me in for surgery. They cleansed my face again and put a needle on my right hand.

-Then they put some sort of "eyedrops" in the eyes and everything goes white and blurry.

If feels as if you have your eyes filled with vaseline or some thick white cream.

Although i was sedated i could feel when the doctor made the incision on my eyelids.

It did not hurt at all but i could feel that the skin was moving. (Difficult to describe the feeling)

There was also a little smell/scent or burned skin, so i guess he was using laser for the surgery.

When i woke up afterwards, i felt a abit sick and i vomited one time.

I was lying with plasters on my eyelids and a cold pack to reduce as much as possible of the swelling.

I was there with a friend and i am so lucky i was not alone.

It was very difficult to see anything under the plasters and you might feel a bit dizzy after the drugs they give you.

Bring sunglasses with you, the bigger the better. It felt lovely to have them as i was leaving the hospital.

After two days you can remove the plasters and clean the wound with warm water.

Put on the ointment (cream) morning and evening.

I was surprised there was so little pain. I only took one painkiller and that was immediately after i woke up, since i did not want any "pain chock" as the hospital drugs went away. After that no more painkillers.

I was swollen for 2 days and had almost no bruising at all. Just a little yellow just at the cornder under each eye.

I used the ointment evenly, sometimes more often than morning and evening to make sure the wound did not get dry from aircon etc.

More things to think about:

Please, take the instructions from the hospital seriously.

DO NOT BEND FORWARDS AT ALL during the first week.

I know it sounds silly but PLEASE SIT DOWN as you put on your shoes.

IF a bleading should occur inside the eye, you can go blind and it HAS happened to some i read about.

And don't forget to sleep with your head high during the first week, I used two pillows because i didn't have anymore at home.

Now after 3 months the scars are almost not visible anymore.

They are hidden in the fold that was created and the symetry of the eyelids are just great!

Don't hesitate to ask if you have any more questions, this is just my experience.

Thank you for your time.

Take care!

Greechart for what you would like is an excellent surgeon. JUST make sure he understands what you want and DONT LET THEM RUSH YOU. Take your time and talk to them.

There are also other surgeons like Preecha and Pommee that you might like too and im sure would not feel rushed or like a factory setting as they are in BNH and BUMRUNGRAD.

You could easily see all doctors in 1 day and then decide. Thats what we did. Booked with all and then cancelled the ones we didnt want to go with. That way treatment was guaranteed with the best surgeon in the day required.

Thank you both for your replies. I did mean to say I am aiming for a consult with Dr Geerchart. I hope I got the spelling of his name correct. I looked up the Yanhee Docs surgical experience and it says he has done 5000 bleps. I don't think any cosmetic or plastic surgeon here in Australia have had that much experience in bleph. I am not going to Thailand for the price, but for the experience. Thank you Comehome, can you tell me how much did your surgery cost? I am just curious if you had chosen the "large" eyelids, what would it look like? Anyway, all I want is to get rid of this excess skin in my eyelid, and a bit of lift. I haven't got wrinkles, just mild sagging. Thanks again to both of you.

By the way, I will be travelling on my own, so I will probably need someone as a guide. Someone mentioned the name Rachael while I was researching. If anyone knows, can someone PM me for her email? Also I was quoted about $AU5000 for both work. I think it's a bargain. The cosmetic surgeon I consulted in Brisbane wanted $4000 alone just for the mini-lift. And $2500 each upper or lower eye procedures. As I said it is not the costs that I am going to Thailand for, but the years of experience of the surgeon that I have picked. Comehome, I read in that "Makemeheal.com" forum that bleph can cause you to have dry eyes. Did you end up with dry eyes post surgery? Thanks again. :)

Zaalti consult some of those other surgeons i posted and see what they think and their costs before you jump in.

bleph done right does not result in dry eyes etc.

And with a facelift make sure you again understand what you want and think and express that to the surgeon and make sure they understand. Last thing u want to do is look pulled and taught. Assuming ofcourse other non invasive procedures such as thermage would not work for you.

Jack, thanks for the info. I will probably leave the lower bleph for an oculo-plastic surgeon. My lower lid is not that bad yet, but oculo-plastic surgeons specializes with anything to do with the eye area including blephs. I am just so terrefied I'll end up with ectropion, this is the downward pull of the lower lid if too much skin is removed. On the other hand, repeated cutting of the skin of the lower lid will make it difficult to heal for next subsequent surgeries, so I want to make it right first time, although I do realize that in time, the wrinkles and sag will return. Hopefully if I can get 10 years or more out of it, I will be happy. thanks again Jack and Comehome. :)

Hello all. As this topic is several months old, I thought I would just bump it up and ask if anyone here has any recent news on a topnotch oculo-plastic surgeon in Bangkok (or any other city in Thailand). Much appreciated. Thanks.
