Hello i got full of the drink last night and i booked up to fly to thailand on the 11th Nov 09. I have a return date 92 days later (it was the drinks calculations) I have just recently returned from a 3 week thai holiday just three weeks ago. I am a UK citizen and i have no visa and getting to the thai embassy in Hull, UK will be a problem for me although if it has to be done it will have to be done.

Can anyone suggest the cheapest way forward for me to enable me to stay in thailand for 92 days? from what i can gather i could maybe do 2 (or is that 3?) border runs. would that be an option to me?

All other alternatives if there is any appreciated.

thanks

You can apply for a double entry tourist visa per post at the consulate in Hull. You are advised to do so as without a visa the airline might refuse you boarding. When going to Thailand longer than 30 days they want to see a visa or a ticket out of the country within those 30 days.

A tourist visa will give you 60 days, a double entry 2 * 60 days, after 60 days you just cross the border and return the same day for your next 60 days.

Also is there rule that stops me having more than 90 days in thailand within a 6 month time period? If i add my 3 month stay to my last 3 weeks holiday i will have had more than 90 days in a 6 month period.

also regarding Border runs do these just give you an extra 15 days (and not 30 days as i thought when posting the above) ? I will be entering i presume on just a 30 day tourist visa.

Thanks

ah thanks mario. I missed your post there in my haste. so it looks like there will be no avoiding a trip to Hull for me before i leave? Do you think if i tuned up at the embassy in hull the day of my flight i should be able to get a double entry visa no problems Mario? I will phone ahead and make an appointment.

will this double entry visa cover me for the 92 days Mario? will i have to do 2 border runs? (or 4?)

thanks for your help.

Call Hull first, I believe they do a quick service for personal callers but you need to make an appointment.

You'll need to do a border hop after 60 days to activate the second entry.

You do not have to use Hull if there is another Consulate closer - but you do not have time for mail so should call them first. If unable to obtain arrive early for flight as you might be required to buy a new onward ticket somewhere to be allowed on flight.

Thanks chaps. I think getting an appointment at hull for tuesday would probably be the safest way of travelling. Ive just had an idea though. due to accomodation problems in pattaya at christmas i thought about travelling to the Philippines. If i booked my flight from Bangkok to Manila before i travel and book it to travel within the initial 30 days do you think that would be suffice to get me on the plane etc?

then i could maybe book another flight somewhere for 30 days after my return to thailand.

would this be possible do you think?

thanks

A brilliant Lopburi there is a thai consulate in glasgow which isnt far from me at aall. that would save me a lot of trouble. Its easier and quicker to go glasgow to bangkokk than glasgow to hull would you belive. I presume that they would sort my visa out for me?
