Strange Telephone Bill

Featured Replies

I've got no business relationship with CAT telecom whatsoever, but yesterday, I got a bill from them. Can anyone shed any light on the reason I'm suddenly a CAT customer?

My internet is with TTT, and I get a monthly bill from them.

My land line is with TOT, and I also get a monthly bill from them.

I sometimes use the land line to phone UK, and this is detailed on the reverse of the TOT bill.

This CAT bill shows a single phone call to a UK mobile on 1st October. I dialled this particular number from my mobile to see who it was, and it's a number not known to me. (All my 'known' numbers are on my SIM card). It's only one call for 16 baht, but I'm really wondering how on earth CAT are involved?

Thanks guys.

Yeah, you must have made a call and their service has been used thru ur provider and rather than them billing ur provider and your provider billing you, its come straight to you.

I always keep track of my o/s calls for this reason, waiting for them both to try and bill me, but that hasnt happened yet.

Are you sure someone in the house didnt dial the number on the 1st of oct?

CAT bill for International calls..

TOT bill for Domestic calls..

Hmm, thanks for that so far. Still offers up some questions:

1) TOT bill details both my domestic and international calls on the back, so why would that change this time?

2) Unlikely that anyone else would use the 'phone - only my wife and child here, and it's an 'unknown' number to us.

May not pay it, and see how they can "cut me off" if there's nothing to cut off.

As I said, only 16 baht, but I'll keep a better track of o/seas calls if this is likely.

Depends how you make the international call. If you use 001 then it goes through CAT and you get the bill from CAT. If you use 007,008, 009 then you will get the bill on your regular TOT bill.

Thank you, livinginkata. That's it.

Recall having to make a one-off phone call about my UK contract mobile, and for some reason I couldn't get through using the 7,8,9 numbers. a straight 001 worked.

Strange telecom system here, in'it?!

All the others are discount numbers like using a cheap calling card or VOIP..

I never use CAT for long distance calls. Way too expensive! Try "JAJAH.com". It's voice-over-IP (VOIP) and very cheap anywhere in the world.

Other VOIP services are OK but be careful in that there are a number of services that wait until you "charge" or top off your account and then don't allow you to make any more calls and keep your money!
