I am looking for anyone that can help me find Single Wattled Cassowaries (casuarius unappendiculatus). I cannot seem to find anyone that can point me in the right direction, but I have been told that there are bird markets in Thailand and Singapore that sell them there frequently, and that there may be private breeders that have them. I have attached a picture of what I am looking for. If anyway can advice me, please reply or get in touch with me, thanks. email removed per forum rules

Due to ongoing habitat lost and overhunting in some areas, the Northern Cassowary is evaluated as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species

Why do you want a threatened spices.

Flaming is against board rules, I know.

Just boiling inside. :)

They're not endangered, and I dont even think they are threatened. Even if they are threatened, then that doesnt mean they are illegal. However, if they are, then history shows that its only going to get worse, until eventually they are endangered, and eventually they are extinct. The country they are from lets the native people hunt, eat, and trade them at will, without any restrictions. That along with deforestation will be the end of them unless something is done. There are only about 10 or so of these birds in zoo's, all of which aren't being reproduced. To help promote a species well being, and increase numbers, then they need to be recognized to be appreciated. Staying hidden in New Guinea, isnt going to do that. I have been breeding Double Wattled Cassowaries for around 10 yrs now, which are already endangered in australia. I have one single wattled male cassowary, which is the only one of its kind in north and south america. It would be very sad for this beautiful bird to live its life out without ever having a chance to breed and procreate more of its kind. This is exactly what I intend to do if all possible. Everyone has their own opinions about this sort of thing, but the very reason people impose their opinions on others is why the world is going all to crap. Anyway, I would really appreciate any help that can be given. And if anyone can find what im looking for, I would be glad to make business arrangements.

why dont u contact zoos? often they have breeding programs including genetic data on male/female of the species; perhaps someone is looking for a breeding male... i've found that zoos will bend rules if there are not too many of a species and the animal is in breeding age.

im sure , if thats not actually you that wrote the article, are at least aware as to which zoos have them; they sound like owning a bad tempered emu...

i dont think our forum will be useful for u....
