Golf In Phuket

Featured Replies

I have family coming to visit at the start of next year and they are looking to get in a little golf while here. They will be based in Rawai and i am wondering what your opinions are on the golf courses in Phuket. (i have no interest in golf) I have looked at some of the websites and there isn't much difference in price. It varies between 4k and 7k including caddy, clubs, shoes, green fees and tip per person.

Does anyone have any personal recommendations? advice? etc.

Cheers

I play at th Banyan Tree but it is very overpriced - as are all of the courses here in Phuket. There is, however a new course called 'Phunaka' (I think), the entrance is just to the north of Wat Chalong, where the road to the mountain top radar station is. It is only 9 holes but a friend told me it is pretty good and very good value. I must have a go myself sometime.

Blue Canyon remains the best on the island, though a little far from Rawai. The 9 hole course at the country club in Kathu is probably the best value and not too far.

9-hole Phunaka is in the Chalong area and therefore is the nearest but not much of a challenging course really.

Red mountain is much better than Blue Canyon.

4200 a round is pretty step though

Take them away for a couple of days and go to Rajaprapbha Dam, Khao Sok. Beautiful scenery and a wonderful course.

Call at Taplamu Navy Course on the way up, too.

Each to their own but I find Blue Canyon a much more enjoyable and challenging course.
