Gumballl
I've read in earlier posts that the new Bangkok airport will be opening sometime next year (2006). Does anyone know what it will be called? What about the IATA airport code (the 3-letter code)? I wonder if folks will still continue to refer to Bangkok as BKK, when they write in "shorthand". BTW, my guess is that if the Thai gov't could have it their way, the IATA code for the new airport would be HUB.

aughie
They could have a national lottery. You pay 50 baht and if you win you get to name the airport. On the side all the bookies will take bets on which of Taskin's relatives will win.

"BANG-KOK". (For anyone who's wondering, it's pronounced Soo-wa-na-poom.)

qwertyuiop
Suvarnabhumi Airport and it will adopt the BKK tag <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My understanding was that it will be officially known as the New Bangkok International Airport NBIA, although this would not help with the 3 digit code. jingjingna
I'll hazard a guess : SVM for the new airport and Don Muang will keep the BKK code.
DJ Pat
Suvarnabhumi Airport <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Pronounced "Suvan-a-bum" right? To save embarressment, why not spell it that way?
