Duties For Traveler...

Featured Replies

Hello,

I hope someone can help me out here or maybe just point me in the right direction... I will be traveling through Asia as of this weekend, I was waiting for a high end Digital Camera that I purchased here in Canada but it doesn not look like it will arrive here in time :) That is the store is still waiting for it...

With that being said, the item has been already paid for and I am thinking of having my brother ship it to me to wherever I will be... From talking to the store it seems like it will be here in a week or so at which time I will be in Thailand.

Any idea if I'd have to pay duties on item shipped to me by my brother? The item will not stay in Thailand but will leave the country with me as I am leaving...

I hope there is a way to get this done, if not Thailand would it work with Hong Kong?

Thanx!

Don't do it they will hit you very hard, that is if it doesn't get stolen while in the Thai mail system.

Get your brother to take a picture of it when it arrives and before he sends it to you in Thailand. That will be the only time you see it. :)

Ya I figured out that it would be best for me to ship the camera to Hong Kong (UPS) as the customs official from HK told me that there are no duties on digital equipment going in...

What sucks is that I'll have to backtrack to HK from BK but it will save me more money plus I don't think HK is as bad as some of you make the Thai delivery system look, lol
