Hi there,

I have been to Koh Phangan few times but not more than a week at the time. In January, I would like to spend a month there, just to read , write, eat good food, and get some fresh air.

So now i m considering where to stay this time. My budget is roughly 15-20k.

I like smile hut in bottle beach the most but u think it would be boring after a week? Besides that bottle beach is kinda hard to get there. I remember I had to take a boat to get there from the pick up.

then I like thong nai pan beach. Stay at Dophin once and it was excellent. I love Dophin. But I like to think twice concerning about security. I will be living on my own ( I am a lady). Dophin bungalow is kinda open. I would be worry sick when sleep at night by myself. ( Last time I was there with a friend, so it was ok)

Hard rinn, Baan kai are less fevorite. Too crazy, less beautiful beaches but easy to get around.

My activities will be :

- reading

-writing ( probably need internet connection)

- good thai food, grilled seafood

-biking

-party a little bit

I cannot drive! , not even motor bike. So..

Any suggestion? Ideally, I dont really like to move around. Pick one place and stay.

Thank you ka.

Usually, I advice my friends on a budget to stay at the Sea Sunset, in Woktum, on the west coast.

Basic but clean bungalow at around THB250, correct and moderately priced restaurant, quiet and friendly after sunset Chocolate bar... and Khun Ann is a very friendly host. Regular Songthaew (pick-up taxis) are passing through.

Srithanu is fairly happening, not a great beach like Thong Nai Pan tho, its the same as Wok tum, Ban Tai and Ban Kai, shallow and kinda rocky but still ok and not too isolated.

Try Seaflower in SriThanu, they take good care of their guests there.

Tong Nai Pan I would still say. Security wise, well I have spent a lot of time there and never had any security issues...I too am a girl who would stay on her own. I prefer Thong Nai Pan Noi, but the amount of budget accommodation there is now greatly reduced. Thong Ta Pan at the end of the beach still has cheaper huts (also known as Ban Ta Pan Noi) and great views of the sea, but overall Yai beach is a better option if you are on a budget.

I agree with Lazygourmet and SBK, the area North of Thong Sala (Wok Tum to Had Chao Pao-Srithanu) is very nice, quiet, but with good beaches and many low-cost bungalows. By bicycle you can reach a lot of places without work too much :D , some good restaurant ( :) ), yoga, taichi, meditation, etc etc.

Many places with WIFI and a Wimast service, I guess with prepaid cards. Pirate Bar organizes every week a nice beach party.

And, above all, very far from the crowd of bucket-hanging blonde-hair tattoed young Haad Rin and Bantai tourists...

About Thong Nai Pan, a bit far and not well connected with the rest of the island, although beautiful.

Thank you everyone. Now I have some more ideas. :)

The new Treehouse Lodge on Thong Reng beach is wonderful. Private beach, good food and affordable bungalows.

Actually I have heard that about Tree House...my friends have given it rave reviews...

Same "roots" and friendly people who created the original one in Koh Chang...

If I was 20 years younger, I would definitely go for it! :)
