You know it makes sense. :D

There is a simple reason why there are an over abundance of Fortuners on the road compared with MU7's or Ford Everest or The Silly named Pajero " Sport ", <deleted> is the sport all about ? Cos Fortuners are good motors, don't take much working out does it ?

And to not want ba car because there are so many of the same model about means what exactly ?

You think people are gonna stop and stare at you because you have a Captiva ? :)

One of my cars is a Fortuner, great car it's been, 4 years old, never any problem at all, I mean nothing at all, same everything since new.

Resale value will be good too, but you go ahead and get a Chevrolet................yours brand new today will be worth less then my 4 year old Fortuner in 6 years time.

I was gonna buy a Captiva until I worked out just how much more a Fortuner is worth.

Fortuners are just pick up trucks with seats in the back.

yep, just sold a tuna 3,0 4x4 auto, 2007, not good condition, scratched and dented, 880k baht. sold in 4 days after placing ad in ThaiVisa. cost new 1.250.000, been rented to one man for 48 months at 35k baht/month.

compare those figures and turnovertime with Captiva, Daewo car made to look like a suv :lol: :lol:

The 2007 3.0V Fortuner cost 1,256,000 Baht new, so has only lost 376,000 in 4 years - that's around 29% depreciation.

The 2007 Captiva LT 2.4 cost 1,460,000 Baht when new, so has lost 571,000 Baht in the same time frame, so 39% depreciation.

Edit: Seeing as this is a thread also about the PJS...

A 2009 Pajero Sport 2.5 GT cost 1,070,000 when new, and reasonable KM-for-age (20K/year) models are fetching 950K to 980K used - that's about 11% depreciation after 2 years in the worst case, or ridiculously low 8.5% after 2 years for a better presented model.

Engine noise in the 2011 models has been substantially improved (it has a completely new head design - not just a VG turbo), but even without that, the clatter is only really an issue when the engine is cold - as soon as it warms up it's no more clattery than the 3.0L Toyota, and always better than the 2.5L Toyota diesel or any Isuzu engine.

But yes, by Wandrinstar's definition, the PJS is just a poncy Triton too ;)

I think the major difference is that Mitsu just put more effort into the interior differentiation between the pickup and the SUV, got the suspension tuning much more balanced between comfort and handling, and gave their PPV better equipment levels for a much more attractive price. Plus it just looks better :P

Interesting to note that the 'big minor change' Fortuner is still being outsold by the PJS 2:1, so regardless of what us TV posters think, the Pajero Sport holds the crown as Thailand's favorite SUV...

A top end Vigo is fine How much do rear seats and a bit more roof cost. I cant justify the extra cost. Mitsu have completely lost the truck feeling, therefore im pro the Paj.That permenat 4Wd on the Spivo is a waste of time. Jeez ive never, apart to try it, or play ever used the Rover set up. Neither has Mr Average if hes honest.. All the Paj needs is bigger rims to fill the ugly gap thats common to all truc based Jeep wanabees.Their not as Quiet as my Cruze, so there..:angry:

a PJS or tuna is 100-150k more in excicetax than their pickup sisters. ad body, one more ac, seats and some prestige and you v got the price

just lika a Range Rover is 4-5 mill baht more in taxes than tuna and PJS ;)

one advantage of the pickups is the long wheelbase making it a winner on long highway hauls. Espesisally Vigo is a great highwaycruiser,

A couple of questions from a non petrol head, seriously looking at the PJS, I saw a while back there was a 3.2 version, but now all the engine sizes are 2.5, why was this change?

Also, haven't had the chance to drive one yet, but how is the 2.5, does it have ample power?

The Mitsubishi 2.5L was upgraded for the 2011 model year, givign it more power and better fuel economy than the old 3.2L (old 2.5L was 140HP, old 3.2L was 165HP, new 2.5L is 178HP). It's currently the most powerful SUV in Thailand until you start looking in the 3 million+ range, so yes, very ample :)

Yep, this was discussed in another thread a while back:

The 2011 Mitsu 2.5L diesel makes 3Nm less torque than the Toyota 3.0L at 1400 RPM (2nd best engine in the segment, from a HP/torque perspective), but takes the cake from 1800 RPM upwards.

Towards the end of 2012 we'll see the new T6 Ranger based Everest take to outright performance crown from the Pajero Sport, but even when that happens, it'll be due to extra cubic capacity (3.2L) - the Mtisu 4D56 2.5L VG Turbo donk will still have the most HP per Litre in the segment, and remain competitive on KM/L for HP against the new tech coming from Ford and Chev.

agreed, at 1400rpm toyota 3,0 and mitsu 2,5 MY2011 performs equally, same tourque. Then mitsu starts pulling away. They v done a great job, spendt a few thousand hours on refining/tuning, and able to drop one engine (3,2) from logistic

Fords new engines are more euro style, obviously spendt more time refining and finding performance, the 2,2 4 pot actually comes in a 200hp edition in Mondeo, still with low end tourque to beat toyota 3,0.

Toyota 3,0 has been the most refined japs/Thai pickup/suv engine since 2004, with a smooth power delivery. They need to update to be on par from now on

Went to look/buy PJS on Saturday at a local dealer in Pattaya. 4 WD still available, but the only colour they have at present for 2WD GT is white, the guy told me this was because a newer model is being released in 2 months time and they could take a deposit.

Just to revive this thread a little, went to both mitsu dealers in Pattaya and got conflicting stories on model/colour availability (2WD GT). One said no problem 3 weeks, the other said wait 2 months for the new model. Anybody help me here?

Also I found both dealers to be far from generous when trying to do the deal ref freebies etc. Does anybody know if its better in Chonburi/Rayong, or Bangkok where I work? Thanks all,

There is another thread in here somewhere that talks about the dealers in Pattaya area as being pretty much impossible to move on discounts etc, and the better deals offered in other areas. Maybe to many rich farangs in Pattaya who do not haggle?

I am thinking about PJS and Fortuna and will be looking seriously in a few weeks as not in BKK at the moment. As such I am very interested in the comment on a new model PJS in a couple of months. Did he maybe mean new stock in 2 months? Try a dealer in BKK and can you post what the status is. One of the regular posters MRO has a thread in here as well on planned model changes etc for 2011/12/13 and the only bit mentioned in there for the PJS is the January 2011 update. Some of the other information he has posted has proven to be spot on as well as the PJS update in Jan this year.

A friend of mine in BKK wandered into a Mitsubishi dealer in BKK and asked as we were talking about this last weekend. From the dealer as a first offering was "10,000 off 1 year free 1st insurance comprehensive window film body work spoiler skirt etc " So it definitely looks like BKK dealers are after the business and prepared to discount and freebies etc to get it.

One of the dealers definitely said new model, pay a deposit and wait for 2 months, he mentioned there would be a very slight price increase. The other said he hadn't heard that and could get me what I wanted in 3 weeks.

The plot thickens!
