Hello

Can somebody answer this question for me?

I have a tourist visa that expires on January 8th

If I go to immigration office on January 4th to get

a 30 day extension, will the 30 day extension start

on the 4th or will it start on the 8th of January?

Thanks

But make sure you're looking at the correct date, there is the date which your tourist visa will "expire", there is also the "Admitted until" date stamped into your passport and on your arrival card.

Thanks for the replies

60 days is up on January 8th

Heading to Chaeng Wattana tomorrow

Is there a better time of day to go?

Can I go in the morning or afternoon?

Do I get extension stamp and passport

returned to me on same day?

Thanks

You can go anytime, but reports seems to suggest mornings are quieter. You will get new permission to stay put in passport whilst you are there.

You will need to take with you completed application form TM7, recent passport sized photo, copies of your passport photo page/visa/arrival stamp + TM6 departure card. Fee 1900 baht.

The date your tourist visa expires is irrelevant for extensions. If you enter on the last day and get a 60 day stamp, you can extend it at the end of the 60 day period which in this case would be 60 days AFTER your tourist visa has expired.

When you get a 30 days extension, you get a full 30 days. They don't count the first day as they do when you are stamped in by immigration upon entering Thailand.

Will that form be acceptable to immigration? I printed it out using Office 2007, and it comes out rough with missing lines and uneven spacing...it's a mess.

Correct. The Op should receive new permission to stay date of 7th Feb (8th Jan + 30 days).

Most people don't seem to have a problem Tropo (maybe your fonts?) but can always obtain and complete at immigration.

I've never messed around with fonts in Office 2007. I just open the document as presented and print.

Here's exactly what I end up with after printing:

Would you use that?

You need AngsanaDSE (TrueType) Thai Font installed to download immigration forms, and suspect that maybe the problem. But, as said, can obtain Form TM7 from immigration if necessary.

Are they serious about

"Reason for extension"

Can I put "retired at 40 and want to get nice tan"

Anyone with any good suggestions on what

kind of things they like to see as reason?

Or can I just put

"Am married to a Thai and we are here helping Niece

raise three baby boys aged 1 2 and 3"

Thanks
