Could someone tell me if there is a lot of blaring bass from 'boom cars' and bars in Koh Tao? I'm hoping it's not anything like where I live now (Pattaya) , and one can find an apartment in an area that doesn't have the constant booming bass of bars and cars.

No boom cars in Koh Tao, but dog concerts in the middle of the night.

Pending on where you want to stay on Koh Tao, it can be extremely quiet, just make sure you don't rent near one fo the night live establishments in Sairee or between Sairee and Mae Haad and you should be pretty fine.

Well, that's good news! The dogs aren't so much a problem for me, as is the bass vibrations which cut right through me (it's actually painful).
