I am a US Citizen that is retired but not old enough for a retirement Visa. I have a verification letter from my Bank that I receive monthly funds transferred from my account in the US to my Thai Account that meets the Financial requirements of 65,000.00 Baht a Month. I will also get a Notarized letter from the US Embassy stating the same.

My wife and I live in a rental house, so my wife’s “House Book” is at a different address than the one that we reside at. But since her family home is in Bangkok we will have the original book with us.

My first Type O Visa by Marriage expires in late March of this year.

First off the Thai Immigration Bureau web site says that I need:

List of documents for extension Thai spouse visa

  1. Application form T.M. 7 with one photograph size 4x6 cm. and Visa Fee 1900.-Baht
  2. Copy of passport ( with certified true copy )
  3. Required documentation for applying visa in case of
    • For supporting Thai wife

    1. Marriage Certificate
    2. Child's birth certificate (if any)
    3. Wife’s house registration
    4. Wife’s identity card

I remember when I received my First Type O Visa by marriage I had to supply pictures of my wife and I in front or our house and a map with the location of our house on it. I have also read on other post that they are requiring two neighbors to go to immigration with us to verify us?

Could someone please answer a couple of questions for me regarding my First renewal of Type O Visa by Marriage?

    My questions are:

    A) What exactly is a "Certified True Copy" of my passport?

:) Where do I get the "Certified True Copy" of my passport?

    C) As I have already been issued my first Type O Visa by marriage and this is either a extension or Renewal, not sure of the proper term, Do I need to take two neighbors for Verification?

    D) Do I need to take pictures of us in front of our home?

    E) How early can I apply for the Renewal or Extension?

    F) Any other tips or tricks to make the process go smoothly would be appreciated?

    G) Do I submit all the paper work at the same office where I have been going for the 90 day extensions of my old Visa? I believe it is off of Chang Wattana Road?

    H) Do I apply for my Multiple Entry Visa Stamp at the same place that I apply for my Type O renewal?

Thank you very much helping me with these questions. I hope this will also help other readers.

A. Certified means signed by you.

B. N/A

C. Probably not but Immigration will let you know if needed.

D. Within the last 30 days.

E. A good idea to take just in case needed.

G. Yes. 90 day address reports. Not extensions.

F. Yes. It is not a Non O Visa it is an extension of stay.

Don't forget to take the Wife. They may also want a copy of the marriage registration book entry. As well as the marriage certificate.

Some do some do not. You will have to ask them.

You should have copy of departure card and PP pages having visa/extension as well as the data page. You will do at the new Chiang Watanna office on Soi 7.

I'm curious - on the 65k baht per month financial requirement - is that per month or are you showing that you have 400k in your Thai bank (account in your name only)?

I've just heard in the past 24 hours that the rules have changed yet again, and that instead of showing 40k+ a month in income, you now must show 400k in a Thai bank and it has to have been in the account for a minimum of two months, in order to get the one-year extension to a non-O visa

If anyone has any solid info on this (I got this from my lawyer, who just called Pattaya Immigration to confirm), please respond.

For marriage the requirement is an income of 40,000 a month (on average) OR 400,000 in a bank account in Thailand for at least 2 months.

No new immigration rules have been announced.

"My wife and I live in a rental house, so my wife’s “House Book” is at a different address than the one that we reside at."

Will any problems arise if this, (the above) is the case when going for a marriage extension?

Also, for myself, my wife's "house book" is at her mother's up-country home so will a signed copy be enough for the application or is the original book required?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Thank You Very Much!!!! That clears up my questions. You people are great.

That will depend on the immirgation office where you apply for an extension. Mine made a problem of it and i have seen other people beeing send to the immirgation office for the area where the wife was registered. Not where she was living.

A very important document that I have not seen listed above is:

The registration Document from the Amphur, cannot remember the exact name but Kor DHor 3 I think it is.

The rules are 40,000baht per month, or 400,000baht in a Thai bank account.

Just seen Lite Beer mentioned the document in his post>.
