I am living in Chiang Mai now on a non-imm O., multiple entries, ending at 16-07-2010.

In april I did my first visa-run.

I want to try to get a non-imm visa O-A, retirement visa as soon as possible to get rid of visaruns.

Can I apply already now or do I have to do that in the last two weeks before the end of the visa (16 july)?

You want an extension of stay for retirement - not an OA visa. You can do that during the last 30 days of any 90 day entry. You will need to meet the normal financial 400k in bank 2 months or 40k monthly income or combination requirement.

He means 800k or 65k.

It's been a long day. :)

Yep - that's what I should have typed - had it confused with a previous converting employment to marriage post. Mad cow it is.

Twice last year at immigration in CM I tried to do just that (extend multiple-O early) for the same reason. While being really friendly about it, both times they said "come back within the last month". The second time I was five weeks from the end and was traveling, so I was given a 14 day extension of the original multiple-O. The the retirement extension I finally received is for a year from the extended date. The officer I talked to on the second try told me to bring the same paperwork back, which I did and which went without any complications. It may be technically possible to do it early, but in my experience it didn't happen in CM.

I did it and with success!

All I needed was passport (+copy), 1 photo, bankstatement (+original passbook) and form tm7.

The end date is 3 april 2011, that is a year after the date I should have done my next visa run.

The only dark side was the long waiting (three hours) at Chiang Mai Immigration.

The officials were kind.

Before I go to Holland again I need a re-entry permit.

Thanks again for the advice.
