Just got back from Ko Lanta and when we there there we did the waterfall. The one where you walk up the mountain (if you're stupid like us) and have to hold onto vines to get up and down the other side to exit at the stream. As we were walking back we found a biologist who was there hunting snakes. He told us that two days ealrier the guide and some tourists had had an encounter with a 4 meter long King Cobra where the snake was under the tourists feet as there were talking along the stream and another guide had said the day before they had seen a total of 5 Cobras in the stream that day. It's the dry season and apparently snake sightings are common in the stream.

Also as we were walking along the beach we found a jellyfish that was easily a foot wide whilst laying on the sand. It seemed to be still alive and was probably going to get washed back out to see. Are there Man of War jellyfish on these beaches? This one was huge.

Steffi,, you had one question in there??? I dont know about the jellyfish, sorry. But otherwise that.

You wish us to stay away from koh Lanta, is that what you mean??

I personally think it is great to find animals here in Thailand that is impossible to find in Europe, where

we have killed everything that moves...

So cobras is taking a bath in the summerheat, good for them... If we dont like it or cant stand it, we

should stay home in our own countries.

No I wasn't being critical just making observations that's all. I have no problem with animals either.

:) I am not fully agree with Glegolo and mean this is no reason to stay in the home country if we have respect from a Cobra or any other animal we don't know well. I guess many have a big mouth and if it come true we stand face to face with a Cobra? It can be first and last time.

Similar for Yelly Fish. Depend on season, as I have seen the west coast of the golf from Bangkok can be full of YF, even some resort warn to go to the sea and use better the pool. If some was hurt / burn by a YF he will know the pain and irritation of skin and avoid.

I agree we never should kill any animal, just this which are a danger for human avoid and not try to cross the way at same time.
