I have a cholesterol level of 220mg against a desired level of 200mg.

I already exercise regularly.

I eat no red meat, lots of vegetables fruit anf fish.

I do take whole milk in cereal and tea and eat some chocolates and biscuites.

Is the a big practical difference between 220mg and 200mg?

Is it likely that I will reach 200mg by a still strickter diet?

Ade,

Cannot advise anything from just your total cholesterol. What are your:

- HDL (high density lipids, the "good" cholesterol)

-LDL (low density lipid, the "bad" chiolesterol"

- triglicerides??

Hello Ade,

Sheryl is correct, the total level is an indicator, you will need to have additional details to determine if there is an issue. Here is a good article to read and understand a bit better:

If you do have an issue, becoming stricter on your lifestyle may or may not have an effect, as it will depend on what the root cause of the heightened levels are.

Thanks for all the good advice I will seek further information. It seems the test I took is effectively worthless.
