Motorbike Accident

Featured Replies

I've no real reason for posting this here other than the fact that details of the incident horrified me, so I'll outline what happened, the full story is reported in a Phuket newspaper:

An off duty Cathay Pacific pilot was riding his motorbike when he stopped to make/take a phone call and remained straddling his bike. Another bike came by at speed and it seems the footrest of the passing bike caught the pilots ankle and severed it. The pilot recalls a Thai man coming to his aid and using the pilots mobile phone to call his girlfriend for help - the would be Samaritan then disappeared taking the injured mans phone with him!

As luck would have it the mans girlfriend and a rescue truck appeared at some point and he was taken to Bangkok/Phuket hospital where his lower leg was amputated.

The idea that the man who stopped to help would partially help and then, seeing a free phone in the offering, decide to leg it (no pun intended) leaving a seriously injured person by the roadside makes me groan with despair, a new phone or a mans life were his choices and look what he chose!
