It depends on how well you can negotiate. Look up minimum wage in the various areas of Thailand on the websites. The go to employment sites and see what they are offering. It is just like any country in the world it depends on experience level, education, speical skills, college grad engineer versus a licensed engineer. Can you ask a broader question next time?

Mech Project Engineer - 65k per/mth

Site Engineer (mech & Elect) - (8) average 40k per/mth

Supervisers (headmen) 20 - 30k per/mth

All speak English.

Thai professional engineers if they speak English (well enough to converse to expat managers on technical matters) can demand top salaries.

For the same engineers if they don't speak English, they can expext half this amount.

It is very difficult to find Thai proffessionals that can converse in English at managerial levels.

Teachers start out at about 7000-8000B/month, a very common figure for recent grads in Thailand. There are plenty of people making less. I know of moo gatas that pay hilltribe workers about 3k/month.

But there is something called average industrial worker salary.

Some kind of standard used internationally to determine a country's wealth.

One thing to bear in mind is that many Thai companies are paternalistic and cover quite a few expenses. Often the manager will buys lunch for the staff, nights out paid for by the company, interest free loans, help with hospital bills, mobile phone bills paid, gasoline paid etc. So salary is not the entire compensation.

Then don't forget that a skimming, pilfering and "commissions" is widespread, and to a surprising extent tolerated.

It is also relative to which area it may be. Salaries far north can be around 4000 b a month for say hotel staff.

One would hope before said graduate engineer persues his chosen profession outside his current goverment agency, said graduate engineer should really learn to spell the name of his chosen area of specialisation correctly......

i think the average thai wage is in the region of 100-120,000 bht per year.

There are large disparities depending on whether you work for a large MNC or a small local concern. Similarly, whether you work in the Bangkok area or upcountry.

Normally the really big salaries are given to someone who brings other things to the table besides the education and experience that you see on their resume. Things like family connections count for a lot here. Overseas education and exceptional language ability also carry a premium.
