Premier League defends owner test

By James Skinner and John Sinnott

The Premier League has defended its "fit and proper person" test after Stoke manager Tony Pulis said the system had "broken down".

Pulis wants Portsmouth investigated as the club has had four owners this season and has huge debts.

...

Thaksin Shinawatra, the former owner of Manchester City, would have failed the test when he and his wife were charged with corruption in his native Thailand but had already sold his stake in the club.

"Shinawatra sold because he knew that he and his wife would fall foul of it," said a Premier League spokesman. "In essence he decided to sell before he became a distressed seller."

Yeah and what would those idiots at the FA had done if they told him he had to sell the club as he wasn't a 'fit and proper person' after welcoming him with open arms?

They can't dictate to him how much he must sell the club for and to who so if he couldn't find a buyer on his terms they'd have been stuck with him and they could have done FA about it.

Tony Pulis is an idiot.

Pulis wants Portsmouth relegated because that means there is less chance his useless team will go down. Pulis won't get another chance in the Premiership, he knows that.

The teams that lost points to Pompey want them to go out of business thus theyll gain ground on those that beat Pompey as all their results would be nul and void .. but after a quick check Stoke beat them.

I think they deserve to be deducted 20/30 points for this season and a similar amount for next for blatant cheating and have the FA cup win taken away from them.
