mickscottatlanta Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Long time visitors to Samui, just back after 3 years away. Is 2500THB a good price for a monthly rental for a bike. Just a 100cc. The guy said he doesn't need my passport, just a 2000THB deposit. Been out of the loop, is that a fair deal? Mick
itishothere Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Sounds very reasonable to me. Especially the no passport bit, and just 2000 deposit.
MSingh Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 That's approximatley 83 THB per day, or 2 British Pounds or 3 US Dollars PER DAY. I think it's a rip off, don't go nowhere near that deal, it's not fair in the slightest.
Eazy-Going Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 How long you intending to stay? If permanent, can buy a very decent 2nd hand 125 for about 12000 to 15000BHT....
BigC Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 yes it is a rip off. for the leasee. there again u pay more u get more. for a brand new click looking about 4500 per month. thats automatic with good brakes. 2500 is very good for u. specially if he only want 2 k deposit. looks like u have liscence to go radio rental

PoorSucker Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 2500=old bike 3000=two year old 5000-7000=new I rent out, PM me if you want it.
nickmanchester2 Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I rent my bike for 2000 a month no passport needed and 2 helmets - sent me a pm if you want his number - the bike is 5 years old yahamha mio, but its just come out the garage for a service in menam and runs great.

mickscottatlanta Posted April 2, 2010 Author Posted April 2, 2010 Thanks guys (and for the sarcasm). Just wasn't sure what the going rate was these days. US$75 per months is very good when I looked at it that way. I went with this guy for 2500THB. A few guys staying near me recommended him and have been renting off him for a long time. He said he will also change the oil every month or just swap the bike over. So good deal all round. Thanks for the feedback though.
