What does the permitted to stay until date in your passport say? If it is 90 days from the day you entered it is a visa entry and you must leave by that date.

If you obtained a one year extension of stay from Immigration with your wife/paperwork/TM.7 and 1,900 baht you do not have to leave country but you must make 90 day reports when staying in Thailand using a TM.47 and if you want to travel outside of Thailand you would require a re-entry permit to keep your one year stay alive.

any experience with returning to thailand with a week left on your 1 year retirement visa, do they give you a week to renew it, the other option would be to renew 4 months early, neither option is appealing to me right now, dont want to be told at the airport that my 1 year non-imm o is gone due to expire right away, and have heard thatthey are notkeenon renewing too early.

If you are talking about a one year extension of stay for retirement as long as you obtain a re-entry permit prior to travel you will have a week to apply for a new extension of stay.
