Unbelieveable! Why has TV not banned this guy? Calling people terrorists is not legitimate journalism. I know you are beholding to The Nation, but his is over the top. There are enough people here in TV posting insutlts and calling name without aloowing a supposed journalist to post insult and call names. We have people of people here in TV with radical opinions. We must demand that journalists do their job and record the facts. We certainly someone spouting insults and clling name to tell us what we should think.

This is a new low in journalism. C'mon TV moderators ban this guy. I'd like to civil exchanges and we must require them from jouranalists.

In defense of the Nation (yes, I know their reporting is biased and can barely be called journalism), but the OP did explain why he called them terrorists.

"These acts have reduced the status of the red-shirt leaders from that of campaigners for democracy - being used as a cloak - to that of terrorists and perpetrators of treason. The tirades vented by the red leaders and their haranguing of the government have been full of the threat of violence and rampage, and the promise to wreck anything in their way. Their acts have no regard or respect for law and order. Despite the government's orders under the National Security Act, preventing demonstrators from entering restricted areas, the red shirts simply show contempt."

Similar to the "terrorist" labels given to the yellow shirts in taking over the airport.

The Nation just followed the lead of Channel 11 which yesterday had a long program about the evils of the Taksin era. Although a lot of truth there was also a lot of propaganda.

I think the authorities will force them to disperse today since the ISA expires tomorrow and no extension was proposed yet.

Possible yes but we have heard that before .

True, but it is a different tactic to previous stand offs. In days gone by there would have been a lot of blood by now.

Instead it seems the situation is presently under control and the Red leaders are being given just enough slack to say what they want.

Of course in such a dynamic situation anything can happen - and it is a very hot day...almost shades of Songkran 2009 right now, but with niether wanting to "go the agro"...just yet.

THE NATION: Jatuporn playing that doctored audio clip _ where Abhisit spelled out plots to crack down on protesters _ to reds again. What a shame.

How can anyone defend this sort of action? He is just trying to incite the protestors.

He wants the protestors worked up as much as possible so that any action by police will set off violence by the protestors.

He IS HISTORY as far as returning to Thailand as MP or PM is concerned

Even though he still has large support upcountry

hel_l , even his friends at PT may most likely NOT want him back.

Back for what ? 100,000 yellow shirts in the street ?

Chuan Leekpai: We can't use security policies in experimental manner. Lives taken can never be brought back.

Pity that Thaksin and his thugs didn't apply this rule in their war on drugs, the Tak Bai massacre to name just two mass murders commited by the Thaksin administration. Oh forgot the disappearance of a prominent Muslim lawyer activist too.

That is an excellent quote

Agreed to all of this.

Can any person with a grain of intelligence in their body actually defend the likes of Jatuporn.?

Indeed the tactics are worthy of Herr Goebbels and we are all well aware of the results of his diatribes.

A wonderful tactic to whip the crowd to a frenzy and when these poor innocent souls are in the thick of it Jatuporn and his fellow thugs make good their escape to safety.

Mussolini was an expert agitator, yet look what happened to him. .

Confused as to location of the protesters...

Can I or should I come as planned, today and tomorrow for two nights, from Chonburi, to:

1. Shop at Siam Paragon and Siam Discovery?

2. Visit the nightlife venues known as "Nana Plaza" and "Soi Cowboy" and "Thermae"?

3. Use the BTS and MRT without any fanfare, going to Mo Chit from On Nut and to Chinatown?

Thanks in advance. The news stories never mention Sukhumvit, the BTS or MRT systems.

Answer, 2 out of three ain't bad

#1 is out of the question

Yes 1 is definitely out,, not because of the red shirts but because of the prices

#2 and #3 are ok

Comon down

It is true. The last Thaksin puppet government was "mobbed out" by the yellows and now the reds are using this as a rationale for lawlessness.

Let's break this down.

The yellow tactic was indeed very bad.

However, what were they trying to stop?

They were trying to stop a dictator named Thaksin. Thaksin was not a normal PM, he was consolidating a dictatorship to be leader for life. He was and is totally ANTI-democratic. He is a totalitarian.

They used radical tactics to save their country.

The proof? Look at Thaksin now. If he was NORMAL he would have made a deal, left politics, and been happy to enjoy his ill gained riches for the rest of his life.

But his mad power and money lust knows no limits or price and he is willing to totally destroy his country in the process.

Bottom line -- yes this is all about this destructive man Thaksin, and the continuing struggle to get him out of the way so Thailand can move forward.

I beg to differ with you . Even following your logic that mobs can decide in some cases

Number one : Thaksin was not himself in power at the time of the airport stunt . Somchai was

Number two : Somchai governement was indicted for electoral fraud already , there was little doubt

that they will be convicted .

So there was no need to occupy the airport by the yellows . What they did is not excusable

Of course its the past

Hand grenades thrown at PAD encampment at Gov House was a strong incentive to up the anti.

No one was at that point 100% SURE that the laws would not be rewritten BEFORE PPP was dissolved,

absolving TRT and Thaksin of all crimes and misdemeanors.

That with the grenades KILLING people, was what pushed PAD to the next level.

IMO another misjudgment of Thaksin et al, that violence would make things better.

We know from PAD's move that this was NOT the case.. and has never been.

Each increase of violence against PAD made them MORE militant, not more wimpy.

Yet Team Thaksin tries the violence route yet again, clandestinely more or less.

What part of, 'this doesn't work', can't they understand....???

We may see the martial law invoked today. Be prepared for curfew tonight. I think it will be over by tomorrow night then.

They may round up protesters and put them in holding places like the stadium with official TV present so that it can be witnessed that they are treated well. --- Just a guess ---

Mobs whatever their shirt color should not be allowed to break the law , fullstop .

If they do they must be stopped

I believe the Thai military to be much too well disciplined for this, but ambivalent about its value as a suggestion.

If you are only concerned about shopping or nightlife, not about democracy, you better stay where you are.

You can also visit Pattaya that suffered so badly from the impact of the yellow terrorists’ actions.

If the reds take power by revolution, they can change EVERYTHING. They can even change the structure of government and install Thaksin as dictator. So don't give me that Thaksin is neutered line. It isn't true until it is true.

Err, I think you got your wires crossed.

Unless I'm mistaken it was Arisuman and a bunch of Reds who caused the clsing down of the ASEAN meeting in Pattaya.

There were unconfirmed reports about a small band of "blue" shirts/ Newin. But, I know what I saw with my own eyes on TV for the world to see...the TShirts were most definately RED!!!

I'm no fan of the Nation and their reporting is certainly biased, BUT Red Shirt leadership have made and continue to make numerous and repeated threats of violence and there is no arguing that they committed TERRORIST acts in the streets of Bangkok last Songkran.

Suggest you look up the definition of "TERRORIST".

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck...

THE NATION: Kwanchai said he was misundertood by media. He initially planned to fly to Udon to lead more protesters to Bkk.

I seem to have heard a story along these lines before about going to watch the Olympics by a person who then fled from justice,

I wonder if the destination may be Montenegro or Dubai where a friend is rumoured to have interest s in the hotel industry ?

Desperate ends desperate means. I'm al'right Jack, or possibly I'm sabai dee Somchai now I'm out of reach.
