miodo, a friend swears by baking soda. Just reg baking soda you put under your armpits Iike you wouId taIc. I use Deomin, which is a naturaI crystaI. I have aIso occasionaIIy tried baking soda, and seems to work weII too. You wiII stiII perspire, but just wiII not smeII. I think its better than antiperspirant which bIocks the pores and aIso can stain white cIothing (which i wear a Iot of). If you have a probIem with chronic sweating, then i have read that having botox injected into the armpits is a soIution. If however, you just want to have a naturaI soIution where you stiII sweat but just dont have odor, then baking soda and/or naturaI crystaI (such as deomin brand) is my recommendation.

Thanks, eek ! Can this be bought at Watson's or Boots ?

I use an all natural crystal deodorant that you can buy at 7-11 as well as other stores and pharmacy's around Thailand. 50 baht and totally odorless. I believe that the crystal is native to Thailand. It is a real crystal with no additives. All you do is wet it. It lasts anywhere from 3-5 months.

The best deodorant as far as I am concerned. Absolutely no body odor and it allows your body to naturally sweat which antiperspirants block and are not good for you anyway.

Yes miodo, you can buy at Topps even. Go to the bakery section for the baking soda. As for the Deomin, i get that at Topps too. Its exactIy as mizzi39 recommends, a naturaI crystaI, but the Deomin brand comes in a roIIon and a spray too, so you dont need to wet it. Depends on what you Iike reaIIy. There are other crystaI brands too. Just go to the deodrant section of any pharmacy or supermarket.

Thanks again !

If it's such a good product with no side effects, I guess there also will be a "body lotion variety" of it ?

No idea on that one miodo. I like scented body lotions and oils. Also like the white baby lotion too as its smells "clean". Baby lotion might be good for you in the sense that its likely non-aggressive, however, it does have a scent.

I used to have this question years ago especially unscented one until I had my courage to ask a sales lady at Boots. Boots has been my supplier for this since then. No side effects at all. No brand. On the stick, it is described as "expert ultra dry, anti-perspirant deodrant, unperfumed". You would have hard time in finding it on your own. Just ask a saleslady.

Thanks, Irene ! I'll have a look at Boots.

One more question : being a "man", but never ever having dealt with body lotions in my lifetime before : besides the unscented body lotion which I certainly will check out, is there a mildly scented body lotion on the market, the one which doesn't make me smell like an Italian man ? :)

I like your Italian-man part. You may get an answer from Boots' sales people on body lotion. Their matter-of-fact approach is impressive with no push for their sales and also encourages to ask more questions.

We use a crystal (which I think could be alum). It's readily available in pharmacies and also the up-country stores that sell fertilisers and such like. You need to smooth off the crystal a bit (otherwise it might irritate the old 'pits). It works really well, no residual odour, just damp it under the tap and apply like a roll-on. The Thais often use it ground up to a powder, as a floculant to clear the water in their water jars. We use it for this purpose too - just have to be careful not to overdose your water tank/jar as this will result in a certain astringency. It comes at a silly price - something around 15baht for enough to keep the 'pits sweet for a year or more. My bride tells me the Thais call it "san som". OK?

I've looked all over for "Deomin," no luck. But was down to Tops at Future Park Rangsit yesterday, happened to gaze down to the bottom shelf and found "DeodoMin" in a white can. Picked it up, checked it out, and looks like the product. Baht 55 for the spray. Will give it a try.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I really appreciate Boots entire line of unscented products. Just with they could consistently stock them. Currently I'm really missing the Boots Hydro brand of unscented shaving cream and gel.
