Spots/pimples

I dont want to sound like a drama queen here but I have a question to ask.

Over the last... 6 - 12 months I have developed a few random pimples or spots that wont go away. It started with one just under my eye. Its just a 'spot sized' pimple, Red colour. Then a couple months later, one apeared on my thigh. That was an itchy one and scrathing it over time it has got a little bigger. Then a few weeks later another one apeared under my eye and then one on my arm.

They just refuse to go - its like they are there for good or something.

The reason for my post is that I read somewhere that these can or may be a sign of HIV infection?

I almost feel silly posting this. Its a bit of a leap to go self determine of have HIV owing to some pimples but... I dunno...For some reason its kinda bugging me. I have slipped up a few times over the last few years while drunk......

There are no signs of HIV infection per se. If it remains undectected/untreated it will eventually progress to AIDs at which point a number of infections start to occur. The time lag between the HIV infection and AIDs, in an otherwise healthy and well nourished person, ccan range form about 7 to 15 years and sometimes more. If these "spots" are the only symptom you have it is unlikely you have AIDs.

You do need to get an HIV test, since you have had some high risk exposures and as noted above could easily have HIV without knowing it since it is asymptomatic until it has progressed to AIDs, and detecting it befire it goes that far can prevent that from ever happening.

You also need to see a dermatologist about these lesions, to find out what they are and get appropriate treatment.

Not related to Hep C either.

Depending on age and skin type, this may also be some early pre-malignant skin lesions (actinic keratosis); best to have it checked out by a good dermatologist.

These lesions are not dangerous in any way but just tend to linger for some time and is usually best treated by freezing with liquid nitrogen.
