'men In Black' At Red Rally

Recommended Posts

I've asked this question over on News Clippings, but as usual it's been lost amongst the usual bickering/pointscoring and outright cobblers passing for informative posts there.

Who are the mysterious men dressed in black weilding weapons at the Red shirt rally Saturday night? A friend of mine insists they're Red shirt Security Guards. After watching a video in which even a Red shirt didn't know who they were, I'm of the opinion they were brought in to 'speed things up a bit'.

Anyone?

The military wing of the Reds. Not under complete control of the Red 'assembly' of leaders, but seem to listen to some of them...

Not sure I follow, how can they be described as 'military' when they aren't under the aegis of the Government? And if not under complete control of the Red leaders, who brought them in/controls them?

Because they are military trained. Perhaps 'militant' would be a better word.

It's Seh Deang's group.

Around 200 or so supposedly.

I second that opinion, it's most probably Seh Daeng's group of warriors. On Saturday people on the street were talking about seeing snipers on top of Central world plaza. It's not clear whether these were from Police, Army or from Seh Daeng's mercenaries.

Maj Gen Khattiya Sawasdiphol, alias Seh Daeng and one of the hardcore members of the red shirts, emerged to brag about the government soldiers losing the battle on Rajdamnoen Avenue. He said many of their commanders had been nullified. Without the commanders, the government troops fell into disarray in the face of a relentless onslaught by the red shirts. Khattiya admitted that an unnamed group of fighters came over to assist the red shirts' "people's army".

Uh, what?

I'm not sure how young you are, but the description is on the same level as Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) was seen as the military wing of Sinn Féin.

They are Terrorists no other word for it .

Ok...and that's where your limited world ends?

Every terrorist is fighting for a very specific ideology and behind every terrorist mission there is usually a defined agenda. Where do these terrorists come from? What is their ideology? What is their agenda?

My personal assumption is as stated above these "terrorists" are Seh Daeng's mercenaries.

´Seh Dang´ denies involvement in Army HQ bombing BANGKOK, 21 January 2010 (NNT) – Army specialist Major General Khattiya Sawasdipol, also known as ‘Seh Dang’, has denied alleged involvement in the recent bombing incident at the army headquarters.

Major General Khattiya assured that he was not involved in a bombing episode that took place at the army compound. He asserted that he was on a trip upcountry to deliver speeches for the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) when the bomb was fired.

Major General Khattiya expressed predictions that further incidents would occur and warned the army chief to relocate.

An M79 bomb detonated on the sixth floor of an army headquarters' building near the office of the army chief on 15 January 2010, a day after Major General Khattiya was suspend from duties.

Terrorists, thugs, criminals - the names are all sufficient.

The ones who do not agree would call themselves revolutionaries because they support the cause of the above people. Thailand does not have an oppressive government - therefore any opposition is purely greed by those who would gain power. In the process these rich greedy men have used brainwash tacktics on the poor and uneducated to say hey little man you are being taken advantage of my the MAN. Go get what is yours. Not that you earn it but you deserve to live a better life all you have to do is kill for me and put me in power and I will reward all of you little people...

IMHO

I hate a few convince others to go die for their own greediness. I would throw out ( or in prison) any foreigner siding with the opposition as promoting instability to the country and very easily might be providing financing or other support to an a known terrorist group as teh Reds have been defined by the present gov't.

They are soldiers and former soldiers trained by Sae Daeng. When the Thai army cracked down, they threw grenades and shot the commanding Thai Army officers, allowing the Army to be pushed back due to lack of command. They are the equivalent of the "PAD guards".

Its amazing how much a like the Yellows and the Reds are.

these guys have been always around and simultaneously attacked before, within or right after a rally. If this is the findings of the gov right now, please resign by yesterday.

so much foolishness on both sides stinks.

I think the word you are looking for is 'mercenary'... ex cops, ex military (or off duty)... paid to create trouble...

my opinion...

I believe 'paramilitary' is the word that you are looking for, often used to describe the more organised and disciplined armed forces of a terrorist organisation

To call them mercenaries is to insult professional soldiers who work for a foreign crown

They are alike insofar as they are both capable of exhibiting 'nam jai', that most Thai of Thai traits for which we love them. That is where they most decidedly part company.

Okay, playing devil's advocate for a while, Who's paying them, and why?

I'm prepared to accept, given the overwhelming evidence, that they are trained by Seh Daeng, but at who's behest?

Other than ideology, the difference is that once has the military protecting them and the other has the military wanting to crack their skulls.

From that which I have seen and heard, the 'cracking of skulls' has been divided fairly equally between the Reds, the military, and this 'third party'. Which brings me back to my original question.

Who? Fairly well established.

Why? ............. And for what reward? ................... Fill in the blanks.

Well, even when the regular reds appeared to disown him, he did say that Thaksin had asked him and his team to help keep an eye on things.

Why? Well, Thaksin didn't really trust the demonstrators and red leaders to get the job done for him.

I believe they are military. Whether they are related to Sae Deng or not, they are linked to the military on the other side and both are linked to the ruling class, the "elite". Sounds crazy doesn't it? However, I believe that what we are seeing is a third force coming from rival groups within the military all jockeying for power. It is like the crime bosses that fought over Vegas. Yes, the east coast mob was shooing it out with the midwest mob for control of Vegas and they were two opposing factions, yet they still were linked at the top to the boss of bosses. Ladies and Gentleman, welcome to the government within the government and I think we are seeing a Mafia like proxy war.

His trips to Dubai, his photo ops with Thaksin and K Thong etc etc etc ..... kinda hard to link him to anyone else other than Thaksin.
