Hay there everyone,

Seems I do not have the 400k in the bank for this years extension. So I want to go and get a new multiple entry Non-O (then I am good for the 15 months, just cross every 3, and that is fine for me).

I have not been out of the country for a few years, so I do not know where would be best. I usually went to Penang before, but some people have said they are not giving 1 year Non-Os without the 400k now.

Was thinking of KL (one person I know said he only needed to show 100k to get the year there... that is doable). Has anyone else been to KL and found them good for 1 year Non-O visas?

It there any other options that could be better in your opinions?

Thank you for your help, and I look forward to the feedback.

George

PS. I have been in Thailand over 7 years and Married to a Thai for the last 4, and now have a 1 year old son as well..... Just to answer any background questions before they come up (so I am only missing the 400k).

For KL issue the 100k in bank proof and have signed copy of wife ID card and child birth certificate as well as copy of home register of wife and good to have a note asking for visa to be issued signed by wife.

Should the note be in Thai or English in your opinion?

Just back from KL.

I gave the KL Officer my file of copies including about six photos and my wifes letter written in English. I asked the lady to take what she wanted - she took the lot!

She didn't ask any questions and I received the Visa next afternoon.

My wife can hardly believe it was so easy when Bangkok is so difficult.

You wife is Thai so that should be fine. It may not be required but best to have just in case.

My wife just said she would like to come, she has never seen KL, SO she will be with me anyways... Should be good.

So I will need:

1. Signed letter from the bank showing over 100k

2. Copy of marriage certificate

3. Copy of Son's Birth certificate

4. Copy of wife's ID card

5. Copy of tabian Bahn

6. Letter from wife (as well as wife with me for this trip)

7. The fee... What is the fee for a 1 year Non-O now??

Anything else I may have overlooked? Anyone know of a good hotel not to far from the embassy?

I suspect just the bank passbook would be good enough but go ahead and get the letter as the cost is small.

Thank you for all the info and help.

I have one more small question;

Does my wife need a visa to go to Malaysia with me? She asked and I realize I have no idea if Thai's require a visa to go to Malaysia.

No visa required for Thai nationals. Will get 30 days permission to stay on entry. Passport must have at least 6 months remaining at date of entry.

You bet, it will be the Middle of May... so as soon as back, I will post here how it went.

Well just wanted to post and let everyone know that the trip to KL went perfectly. The Embassy staff were great there and I stayed at the Nomad Sucasa hotel, a 5 min walk from the embassy, was very nice and very convenient.

All I needed was the marriage documents and a photocopy of all the pages in my bankbook with a balance over 100k (and of course fee and pics)... quick, painless and a very good trip. Next year I think I will pick the same location (take a week holiday to KL for the visa, is better for me then keeping 400k in a Thai bank, besides I get 10x the interest back in Canada).

One more thing, and that is a thank you to everyone for help I received on this thread, I appreciate everyone's input, you guys are the best.

Take care

Does anyone know how much validity is required on one's passport, when applying for a 1yr non-imm 0 at KL?

I have heard that it may be more than the usual 6mths.

Thanks.
