Ubc Signal

Featured Replies

The UBC signal at our house has since a couple of weeks a 'low signal' bar on top of the screen but today the reception is horrible, the movie or football game is constantly scrambled. Anybody else having the same problem or is there a tree growing in front of our dish?

Sounds to me as if you have something blocking the dish or it has moved and needs to be realigned. Call UBC for assistance.

Mine went out yesterday, for no apparent reason... after 5 or 10 minutes, I unplugged it & waited 10 seconds or so, plugged it back in & went back to normal...

Perhaps try that and see if it resets for you. Occasionally I get a weak signal, generally only during heavy rain... which we not seen much of recently!

But after reading your question again the tree may well be the problem... you may have to trim the tree or get them to move the dish!

Thnaks Jimmy,

Been there done that and it doesn't do the trick. Looks like gotlost may have a point and will call UBC come Monday.

There have been constant messages over the last few weeks passing across the screen that sunspots are causing problems with reception. I don't remember seeing the message just recently, so that may not be your problem.

Yes, the famous "Solar Outage". :)

Problem solved, it was literally a mango tree that grew in the way of the dish. To all tree huggers, stop reading now!

One side of the tree has been cut off/away and service has been resumed to normal reception levels and viewing comfort.
