I love Thailand and and would recommend to anyone for a a holiday. i would also recommend the surprising high standard of service for medical issues and regular treatments such as dental treatment, eye surgery etc. at place like Bumrungrad and Samitiiev Bangkok Hospital.

I would like to warn people of so called 'Detox" experts around the Samui island. I atttended one course (52,000pp baht) after falling for the website jargon and paid up front for a 7 day stay.Payment had to be made by CC and in advance of arriving. The place was less than 5 star as claimed and there seemed to be an uneasiness in the general atmosphere even amongst the staff.. Anyway we got on with it and after 2 days one of the other girl client complained about the place to which the owner went ballistic. banging his hand on the tables saying ' can take it or leave it' . The American girl left immediately under a tirade of abuse. We clung on for 2 more day and decided to leave you. I built up the courage to ask the owner Mr xxx about a refund and was given abusive reply. I told him I would complain to TAT and would report him to the police. We were unable to get our money refunded and since then we have been inundated with SPAM mail, some pornograhic and others simply personally abusive. There was also attempts to fraudulaently use my credit card details for transactions which I did not authorize. I telephoned mr xxx and he was extermely abusive to me on the phone.

I have cancelled my credit card and also closed changed my email accounts and trying to forget this experience.

Go to Thailand but be careful of the crooks in Detox resorts :)

First of all Detox.....is the biggest load of cr*p.......pun intended.

Second....report the place to TAT, not that I think it will get you anywhere, but would do it none the less

Third....report attempted fraudulant of your C.C to the police and bank

Fourth.....report the sent porno to the police

Fifth....if this place is advertised on websites which allow comments have your say

None of these measures will get you anywhere close to getting your money back, but may stop someone else being conned

This ladies experience is disappointing and it doesn't help to insult her or other people's choice with prejudice and ignorance.

'Detox' or body cleansing has long existed in countries like India where 'Panchakarma' (cleansing and purification) is an integral part of the Ayurvedic healing system fully supported by the Indian government and WHO.

'Detox' can mean a number of different ways to clean the body and when I 'detox' (at least once a year), in Thailand, I choose an holistic program, which addresses not just the body but the mind, emotions and the spirit. I'm very happy with the healing retreat I use which also offers support and education.

After a 7-10 day program I always feel great. Which is why I now do it at least once per year.

Thank you for the replies.

I don't know if this company executive detox is still operation but even now I am recieving junk mail with pornographic contents and suggestions.

Also my work has recieved emails ( I was asked to leave details of my work contact at executive detox when applying for the course) with comments about me with details of information probaby eminating from a confidential medical document Is signed at this resort comments about my weight etc..

I was able to get my credit car company to annul the 1200$ payment which was taken without authorization (It was made during my stay at this resort when I was advised to put my passport, wallet/purse and other valaus in their hands for 'safekeeping'.

Another dangerous practice at executive detox newbodyandmind is taking medication away(confiscating) prozac etc.. from during the stay people advising that he knows best.

I have reported it to TAT - no response

I have reported it to medical authorities: ditto

and also Police on Samui (though the executive detox owner told me he was rich and had links with the police on samui and therfore I would be wasting my time.)

If nothing else I hope that I can at least serve a warning to other people who visit Thailand in an attempt to improve their well being. CHECK IT OUT
