Just back from Immigration and the Immigration Officer refused to process my case as the letter I was given by The UK Embassy began with the heading TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN.

She told me that the letter must begin with Dear Sir or it will not be processed. Frustrating as I will now have to go back to Wireless Road.

So be warned, check the leeter introduction before leaving the Embassy.

At what immigration office was this?

Am somewhat surprised to see this, especially from Chaeng Wattana. I could understand (perhaps) if they wanted the letter to be addressed to Immigration, but "Dear Sir" really adds no value at all. Sorry you've had the runaround; thanks for your report which may be helpful to others.

As the UK has a history of not providing said letter it is interesting to see that they did give you something. I believe letters should be addressed to the office involved as a normal diplomatic curtsy and expect they were not impressed with "to whom it may concern".
