PAD = People for Airport Destruction

UDD = Uneducated Downtown Demolition

They are as bad as each other and Abhisit - or whoever is in charge in the future - should not give them any consideration whatsoever. How the hel_l can the opinions of the PAD even make it to media light? There are obviously huge (visible and invisible) elephants in the room and noone is talking about them. Fed up!

Maybe form a new party of Reds and Yellows, call it the People Alliance for International Democracy... or P.A.I.D.... :D

Exactly! :)

Perhaps a new party of reds and yellows calling it People Reunited In Collective Kinship and Spirit or just PRICKS for short.

Ha ha! Good one... but admit it, I inspired you! :D

While walking down the street one day a "Member of Parliament" is tragically hit by a truck and dies.

His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.

'Welcome to heaven,' says St. Peter.. 'Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you.'

'No problem, just let me in,' says the man.

'Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hel_l and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity.'

'Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,’ says the MP.

'I'm sorry, but we have our rules.'

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hel_l. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.

They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne.

Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly & nice guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises....

The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him.

'Now it's time to visit heaven.'

So, 24 hours pass with the MP joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.

'Well, then, you've spent a day in hel_l and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity.'

The MP reflects for a minute, then he answers: 'Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hel_l.'

So St.. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hel_l.

Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage.

He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above.

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. 'I don't understand,' stammers the MP. 'Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time... Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable.

What happened?'

The devil looks at him, smiles and says, 'Yesterday we Red Shirts and Yellow Shirts were campaigning... ...

Poor Yellows! They do not understand the New Thailand. They'll be brushed aside by history and beheaded by the Reds.

:-)

Yellow Democracy: One Man - One Vote (as long as you're elite).

Red Democracy: Freedom of Speech (as long as it's in our favour, otherwise we reserve the right to hunt you down).

so it now looks like as soon as the reds clear the baracades away from the city center and things were just starting to start to get back to normal the yellows will move in and start their own little games or they may feel that its easier to take over govt house again and plunder and pillage like they did last time --- I heard from a friend of mine who is a govt officical that the amount of property stolen was amazing - computers, guns, cars ,van and personal property - not to mention the damage to buildings etc - wonder if any of that was ever recovered and if anyone was charged or they might find it easier to just storm the airport and close that down again --- that ploy seemed to work for them last time so its a tried and proven tactic - well this time the impact on tourism will not be so bad as the damage has already been done --

well the fun times are not over yet but it does make interesting reading ---

i was thinking that they had been rather quite for a while -- so its obviious they dont want peace - just keep the problems moving -

It will never end. :D

Even when it ends, it will never end...

Thailand has reached the stage, when the 'Top' can not continue to rule, while the 'Bottom' can not continue to be ruled in the old, traditional ways.

Something's got to give. Changing Govt 'personalities' will not help. Military coups will not change. Abhisit, Thaksin, or whoever, - will not change anything.

This country needs a big change in socio-economic policy.

I don't see any party offering this.

I hope never to see another 'revolution' in my life. Too costly... :D

:) Any group, party or individuals calling for blood, harsh measures, army involvement etc., think of the costs! Then, think again!... :D

Yes - that's about it for me, for what my opinion is worth.

Yet in saying this, it does not argue that this crisis is some kind of peasant's revolt - it is egos at play and power struggles but it is symptomatic of something much larger and more worrying. The whole fabric and system is creaking at the seams because it is outdated in the globalised world. You either have to to let it go or become more authoritarian to prop it up. You cannot fiddle around in the middle and hope that it sort of heals itself, it ain't gonna happen. A vertical sociopolitical hierarchy (semi-feudal structure) and a democracy cannot co-exist - they are at odds with another, as one demands equality and one exists through inequality - society is not fair but it is fairer than what is self-evident here. That does not condone violence or any such actions, but it does acknowledge that the globalised era brings with it a much more violent society, so there really should be no surprise that violence occurs. Ultimately, though, everything one sees now, it could be argued, is just the the start as there is every chance this system will completely unravel when mother nature takes its sad but inevitable course...

Now I am sure that many of you who did not understand before are getting a more complete picture....

The Yellow shirts the minority by far will not relinquish control to the red shirts who are a majority of this country's population.

The Yellow shirts know that they can not win an election....

The Red shirts know that who ever they elect will get thrown out for a multitude of reasons...

Maybe a cooking show..

A corruption charge....

Can be anything....

So again the tail wagging the dog in this country there is no doubt.....

There is a solution but .....no one can talk about.

It's funny how a majority of the country's population can only get 40% of the vote.

And it's amazing that you are still painting Abhisit as a Yellow shirt. If you missed the OP, the yellows are telling Abhisit to step down.

edit: and if you want leaders that break the law (having 2 jobs while PM, electoral fraud), you're in good company with the reds.

What could the PAD, Peoples alliance for DEMOCRACY, possibly have against calling for elections ????? -

555555

:-D

Part of democracy is not being forced into having elections and everyone waiting until they are actually due.

I think you are referring to a republic (which is a representative form of government). A Democracy is a form of government where the people vote on every issue.

Thailand needs to be run by a committee of 15 professional people and say 15 Rural people. No more no less.

These 30 people are selected by HRH and paid a total of say $3 million Dollars per year. No more no less.

It is the committee's job to re write the Constitution over the next year. It is then rubber stamped by HRH.

Then they have to manage, yes manage, not Govern the country for the next 5 years. Over that 5 years the have the responsibility and the accountability to rectify all current Thai issues from Defence to Taxation, Health, Law and Order, Immigration, Education, Poverty etc etc.

At the end of their term Thailand can have an election (Democratic) and that will give time for decent intelligent parties to be formed to carry the work of the Committee forward. It will also give those people in Thailand the opportunity to rectify their past crimes and work and invest in the country for the good of the Thai people.

Thailand must stamp out corruption, nepotism, and have a Police force that works and works to the benefit of all through Laws that are created and enforced. No excuses.

Now the Yellow's turn to say "But the reds ...".

Get back in your box.

edit: I think this is an area where many anti-reds and the red supporters can join forces.

II am sure he would not do anything without consulting with his bosses, including the Yellow.

All I want for all to go away soon, one way or another

It may well do, down the toilet with the economy and beleaguered farangs!

Who says the country can't unite on an issue? :D

Of course, the yellows would rather not have elections at all, to judge by some of their statements :)

The yellow shirts are very disappointed that their puppet was not obedient. They want a puppet who will obey thus want Abhisit to step down. They definitely DON'T want elections. I think they have no choice at this point except to hope that they have a chance at winning, however slim that chance is. Big business and their middlemen are not going to give up easily. Losing an election would no doubt seriously cut into their profits. Heaven forbid that mass corruption is threatened. Regardless of who wins, it will still be the veteran corrupt politicians in control. It will be a tough job shortening the feed trough.
