On Channel 3 they just showed some life scenes from the streets of Bangkok, a gasoline truck on fire, young men setting fire to tires, pick-up trucks bringing in whole truckloads of tires, men throwing Molotow cocktails at soldiers ....

Are these still the "Red Shirts", the poor, underprivileged farmers from Isaan, the honest grassroot people coming to Bangkok to demonstrate for more Democracy and against double standars?

Hardly. There are professional thugs and hooligans of the worst kind who have no idea of the consequences of their senseless violence. They certainly won't listen to any voice of reason, any offer of talk or compromise. The only language they understand is force, power, handcuffs and a prison cell, for 10 years.

The Red Shirt leaders have long totally lost control and the Government would be well advised to stop any attempt to peacefully end this war.

Go get them and put them away, for as long as possible.

100% agree , its been going on way to long now ! enough is enough , a curfew should be put into place so the trouble makers can then be easily indetified , and get what they deserve jail as a minimum !

Would you call that boy looking over the tyres a human shield.I suggest you print something factual. My thioughts would have been,he is showing the boy to the soldiers to show that he is there.

NOW

If someone had said the boy should not be there i would have agreed but dont spout crap on here

Interesting that the father holds his child up in the line of fire but stays safely below the barrier himself ... interesting, and really humane. A fathers love for his child is massively evident.

Another very interesting thing is that the troops are all Thai people correct? Thai people, serving in the Thai military if I'm not mistaken? Not UN troops (FOREIGN TROOPS) from who knows where that have no clue what kind of laws or constitution your country has. Nor are they troops that wear no identification that work for some private corporation (similiar to blackwater/XE) that don't want to tell you who they are with. You see both of those in the USA instead of US soldiers. -- it's nonsense. Not to mention that it's supposed to be illegal for US troops to be out policing the streets like cops.

Lets hope the Thai Goverment can keep foreign troops out.

If a foreign army will intervene, then it is time for us farangs to leave.

check postings from bkk75:

I think it's time for some tanks to run them over...they want red..let's give them red.

These so called parents should be shot dead so that they don't have a chance to raise these poor kids and repeat history.

Watching and listening to the red shirt leaders and their followers who have been on camera, one explanation for their actions and words, is, they may be, mentally unstable. This condition has been proposed as the basis for the actions of Thaksin, by some rather well known Thais'. The perchance for exposing children/women to harm, both physical and mental seems to be another flaw in the well thought out plans by many of those mentioned. The arguments/justification put forth by supporters of any group who would sink to this depth of depravity indicates their having surpassed the mentioned 'unstable' classification.

My son/daughter (then 12 and 15 year) and I, were witness to the early stage riot activity of a mob. He commented later, while in the safety of our car at a safe distance, "dad, I did not know you could move that fast" I just hope the red group leaders will get their just reward before they can lead more to the potential slaughter. They would not recognize democracy if it were to bite them in the a.s.

They have also luted 7-elevens, burned down a Tesco Lotus, closed down several more streets, robbed a bank and a gold store. They try to light up a truck on Rama 4 as we speak. They are terrorizing millions of people. Banks, shops are closed. Our offices is closed along with thousands of other people. This is not a peaceful demonstration anymore. The leaders know they cannot give up, because they have broken so many laws.

The army are stating categorically that they will not use RPGs and M-79s so that the damage from these weapons is rightfully blamed on the reds who are using them.

The reds believed that army snipers were using the Dusit Thani to shoot into Lumpini

Both, and not hard at all! :)

Ok if true , self defense is a motive ...

this thing is going to go from bad to worse .

Let the madness stop

The Government should not fill up prison space with every Red Turd they catch.

Brand them all on the forehead (Inglourious Basterds style) with a big 'RS' and send them back out into the World to see how that works out for them?

Nothing like a little social outcasting/retribution to level the playing field.

That's what a human shield is - "don't shoot at us behind standing behind the red barricades because we have brought our children here."

You're EXACTLY right. If you're lifting up your child to show the soldiers while your cohorts are shooting and menacing the troops, that child is a shield. This proves that the reds are complete cowards just how despicable they are. They're willing to sacrifice their own children, who have no choice and no political allegiances, for their "cause."

I'm sickened by this image, but it gives me insight into what kind of people the government is dealing with. No wonder there's no negotiation with this lot of miscreants.

They can not go in and slaughter the elderly, women and children and they all seem unwilling to leave. This whole thing is a big mess. The PM has good intentions, but he is in a no-win situation. :D

I think what they will do is go in and arrest people- thats within the red "legal" protest site. Lead them off to buses. I doubt they will go in shooting. The problem is what happens when red snipers open up in a area with soldiers, women and children :)

I doubt you are in BKK right now. If you were, maybe you would talk different. I have tons of friends, colleauges and so on from rural areas of Thailand. No-one, I repeat No-one support the demonstration at this stage.

Remember their ID cards are being held by them..think you can just easily leave?

I don't understand what the big dilema about the id card is. Simply leave, get another id card at a later date. Why bother even telling the leaders you're leaving. :)

Because they have to apply for a new ID card with their local leaders, which will give them away as "traitors" facing all kind of revenge and harassment from the local Red Shirt leaders.

Thats strange, last time we went to get a replace ID Card, we didnt have to go and see the local red shirt leaders.

You have to go to the police to report it stolen. The police are red shirts. Then you go to your local amphur and if you're from the north or northeast then you are visiting red shirt bureaucrats.

everyone knows what is going to happen. how long will it be procrastinated? The have vowed to remain, and not compromise. no way Thaksin will change his mind and tell them to disperse.

Just hope there are minimal casualties of soldiers.

Its at the point protesters are making a mockery. Shooting rockets today, burning and looting more. Its just about time for the army to go on the offensive, with about 5000 arrests guilty of treason, inciting and participating in violence, illegally occupying the country, terrorism (which it truly is by definition.)

typically lutting in situations like this is a crime punishable by death. the usa put the nat guard in new O to shoot lutters and i dont remember the UN or human rights com saying anything.
