Doctor Recommendations In Bangkok Please

Featured Replies

I need a recommendation for a doctor in Bangkok please. We are a Western couple who have been living here for a short time so far. I had planned to call the embassy for advice but as they are currently closed I remembered using this website the last time I was in Thailand and thought I'd give it a try. Here goes...

My girlfiend has quite a complicated medical history and clinical signs. I was hoping someone may be able to help point us in the direction of an experienced and knowledgable (medical rather than surgical) Doctor with very good English so nothing is lost in translation; we usually get by in this department but I don't want any misunderstandings when her health is in question!

We are living in the Nuntaburi area but of course will travel for any specific recommendations outside of the area!

Thank you so much for anyone's time and we most appreciate any help/advice you may have.

Regards, Ed.

Hi,

one of the best hospitals in town with very good and english speaking staff is the Bumrungrad Hospital at Sukhumvit soi 1.

Good luck!

Samitivej on Suk. soi 49 is also very good.

I second that, you just go there, register at the main desk and can see a Dr within 10-20 minutes normally.

Bumrungrad Hospital is the best hands down period. Specialists in all medicine. English and many other languages spoken

Vichayuth on PraRama VI gets my vote. And i been to them all - Brad, Smitvej, BNH, etc. Been very sick many times.

Vichayuth is my preference because it is 40% of the cost of the other "western friendly" world class hospitals. go to the Vichayuth New Building - cant miss the tower you can see off the Changwattana expressway.

excellent quality medical care; and at much less than the other downtown hospitals. also no waiting, lots of people.

also, this is closer to Nontaburi than the others

Any of the big private Hospitals are good, St Louis, Bungrunrad etc. I mainly use BNH on Soi Convent as I have Epilepsy and one of their Neurologists trained under the Consultant I had in London. All these hospitals have by western private medical fees very low consultation charges but this does not lessen the quality of the treatment or advice given. If you need to see a Dr. for an ongoing condition get the hospital here to keep your Dr back home in the loop.

I've always been very happy with Siriraj. Public hospital so sometimes long waits at OPD, but better and better English as you work your way up the medical staff ladder.

Inexpensive, and as it's a teaching hospital associated with Mahidol University, you get some of the best care.

Besides, if the Royal Family uses is (King has been in residence since September), you can be pretty assured it's quality. But unlikely you'll be on the same wards or get the same treatment :)

Reason for Edit: added monarchical note

Hello Fatman,

I just sent you a PM about a recommendation.

But I forgot to mention that if you would like to come to Bumrungrad, you can review doctor credentials on your own time at:

http://www.bumrungrad.com/overseas-medical...r-a-doctor.aspx

For the most part, our doctors can communicate in English very well, but if you find any doctors with Western certifications you can be sure there won't be any problems.

Best regards,

Scott @ Bumrungrad
