Hi everyone

I seek advise from all you knowlegable ones out there...

Although I am using Thailand as my base with my familly staying all most full time, I currently work overseas so am in and out frequently.

What I would like advise on is multiple enrty O visa extensions:

On expiry of our O visa's we have been renewing back in the UK which is getting to be a pain, going back solely for this purpose, so is it possible to get an extension in Thailand that allows you multiple exit/re-entry?

And if so what are the requirements, paperwork required?

Appreciate a clear response, even if its dont be stupid you will have to continue to renew in the UK thats the rules... :)

Under your circumstances the most common annual extensions of stay for a non-immigrant "O" visa would be marriage to a Thai, having a Thai child, or retirement. Each requires you meet certain Thai baht financial requirements and you have to be at least 50 for a retirement extension.

Yeh, the bank deposits are not a problem, and will look at the retirement visa option in the next two years when I hit 50 (if they dont change the rules). I would then need some form of police clearance from the UK which has to be done under the data protection act and believe it takes months to obtain.

Was hoping for another option in the meantime.... Thanks for the info

1. You may be able to obtain multi entry non immigrate O visa from Perth with copy of ID card of a Thai you plan to visit. I suspect you have been using Hull for previous visas (as they are about the only place that issues for visiting friends). But you should ask them as have not seen any report of "families" obtaining such visas there.

2. Retirement extension of stay done in Thailand from a non immigrant visa entry does not require medical or police check paperwork.

No police clearance or medical required when getting a retirement extension of stay in Thailand. Just a non-immigrant "O" visa and finances in order. For now the multiple-entry non-immigrant "O" visa is the best you are going to get.

Your 100% correct I have been using Hull and getting the multiple based on owning property in Thailand and hence visiting regularly, it has not been a problem todate as long as I show the Chanote and Thai bank account.

Its nice to know I dont need this medical or police check paperwork to obtain a retirement visa (previously I was told I would) I assume with a retirement visa It allows multiple entries/exits?

Thanks...

Looks like I will just have to put up with it for a couple of years more and then "retire".....Thanks

A "Retirement Visa" obtained at the Thai Embassy in London would require a police check and a medical.

A 12 month extension based on retirement obtained in Thailand would not.

If you need to travel out of the country you would need a Re Entry Permit.

1,000 Baht for a single. 3,800 Baht for a Multi.

If you would care to, please explain how you own property in Thailand and have your name on the Chanote. Could be relevant to the visa extension process if you can be classed as an investor.

Actually I have a Thai limited Company which is identified on the Chanote, however I already know that the THB 2 million asset company with no thai employees (only directors/shareholders) does not help me in this situation irrespective of the actual (real) property value.
