They don't normally feed on the ground but this one couldn't resist the scraps I tossed out for my chooks.

This small moth - 8mm long approx. is found pretty well everywhere in the world. It has possibly the widest distribution of any moth. if you walk through long grass you will see these tiny insects fly up for a few feet and then vanish as they settle again. moths are amazing animals with many strategies for survival. Some can send signals to bats to warn them that they are poisonous. Some mimic other moths and some can hear. They are responsible for reducing vast amounts of vegetation to mulch and are a major food source for many mammals (including people).

In Finnish we have a saying "Etana, etana näytä sarves - tuleeko huomenna poutaa." Which basically means that if the snail shows it's "horns" tomorrow will be a pretty day. Is there a similar "old wisdom" in other languages / cultures?

This one is giving me a mixed signals. While in Phuket has been under severe storms for the past few days, this snail shows it's horns. Then again it's doing this on a tree several meters above the ground level :)

Maybe it's just a bit that way inclined biggrin.png

@ Oilinki...It's a Thai snail...things here are not always as they appear!

Nice pic.

FF...with the addition of that treble clef (correct?) this is what makes the pic work to me.

A muso friend of mine is gonna try and do something on a keyboard...watch this space!

Great art . . clap2.gif wish i'd thought of it.

It immediately got me thinking of the Infinite monkey theorem. You know, the one that goes along the lines of . . . Given enough time, a chimp punching at random on a typewriter would almost surely type out all of Shakespeare's plays.

Well . . . click...click...click...click... Ad infinitum

Hey presto! they all land in perfect sequence to the opening minute or two of 'Village Swallows from Austria' by Josef Strauss (or any other work, by any other composer smile.png )
