Where To Stay On Khao San Road?

Featured Replies

Hi, my wife and I (early 30s) are coming to Bangkok for two nights later this month. We'd like to stay on or very near Khao San Road. We need nothing fancy but it should be clean, have AC, have its own bathroom and preferably the rooms should be somewhat shielded from the street noise. I have looked online, but the information available online is overwhelming. So I am hoping to get some specific recommendations on hee and how to book the place. The budget is probably TBH 1500 per night, but I would imagine that we should be able o find something a lot cheaper. It would be nice if it is a place where one runs into other international travellers.

Any thoughts or comments are welcome.

smokie36, thanks! I wil look into it. Also thanks again for your tips for Koh Samui.

Rambuttri Inn at Rambuttri soi....very good value, from 400 baht and have 2 swimming pools on the roof. Great English style cafe at the entrance too.

Be very careful at KSR. Some places are filthy and infested with insects and rodents! Why must you stay there?

Mate, having travelled quite a lot and done Khaosarn more times than i like to remember, id follow the above advice and do the bottom end of Soi Rambuttri. Its a 2 minute walk to all the Khaosarn rd. stuff but quieter with less grief!! Remember though Rambuttri runs parallel to Khaosarn but you would want the bottom side of the soi, on the opposite side of the main road, where the WAT is. I can recommend Sawasdee hotel i think its called cheap but not the cheapest. Its clean friendly and doesnt allow horny backpackers to bring bar girls back. You cant miss it, as you walk into the soi its on your right with a big open air area for food (all bamboo style). I used to stay in foursons round the corner but the place has gone downhill recently! Hope this helps

You don't really need to bother with booking. There are literally thousands of rooms available, you can just walk in to any place, have a look at the room, and see if you want to stay. There are also thousands of international people, travelers and people who live in the area, as well as Thai university students at some bars, so there are plenty of people to meet.

I don't know why you want to stay at KSR.Definitely not A fantastic place in BKK.

I will give ya A hint, one of the best locations it the riverside area.It has the water taxi that will take you to many places chinatown,KSR,and more.Or you can go take the bts skytrain to everywhere else. It's A good hotel I don't believe it's much over 1000 baht A night, and breakfast included,is the bossotel inn. They have A website, check it out

Two swimming pools on the roof...

What did you smoke downstairs before going upstairs?!? :)

To the OP: New Siam Riverside is facing Chao Praya next door to UNICEF headquarters, 10 minutes walk from Kaosan.

Brand new, quite and peaceful... bargain hard and you can save 20/30% on their cheapest internet prices

Lamphu Tree Inn. 5 Mins walk from KSR, beautifully renovated old Thai house on canal.

Another question, what is the best way to book any of those hotels mentioned? Throught the hotel website? Most I can't find on agoda.com. I do understand that I could probably just show upo and get a room, but I'd rather book something ahead this time to have more time for other things instead of looking for accomodation.

D&D on KSR

Yo'd have to be mad to stay at the D&D. I stayed there about 2 years ago, and found the staff the rudest people I've met in Thailand. They actually have bouncers there!

I always stay at Thai Cozy House. Around 750 Bht / night. Nice, clean rooms and a small breakfast included (can choose fbetween asian, continental and english). Besides agoda, check Latestays, booking.com and websawadee.. It's always cheaper to book a room through dot.com agent.

D&D on KSR

I'de go with that , stayed there a few times.

Imo Good value. choice of rooms, ie standard luxury ect ect, all good value, clean and generally well managed . Good buffet breakfast included in the price. roof top swimming pool immeasurably pleasurable after a hard day shopping.

Only one pointer make sure you reserve/get a room NOT facing the k' san road.,the staff understand as it seems to be not an unusual request .
