Hmmm seems someone else besides me feels that Green should play again, so all of the flames were just that and nothing more, they certainly weren't well thought out responses..

Barry's importance is hugely increased because Capello has decided in the first game to change our team formation to a tried an failed our rather than keep the fit with our other holding midfield. I he does'nt trust him to play why take him in the first place?

I'd go with Defoe to partner Rooney in this next game though he's a better goalscorer than the two big strikers. Cole on the left and Gerrard on the right. Use Lennon for the last 20 mins if needed. Same with Crouch.

Flames? What flames? Seems like you have trouble with people expressing an opinion that differs from your own, because that was all that happened.

We played decent football in Euro '96

that wasn't a world cup and england had home advantage. not to mention that many people forget england were crap in the opener against switzerland, were lucky to beat scotland with mcallister missing that penalty and should have been knocked out by spain. played really well against holland yeah but that one performance rather colours people's memories of '96 i think.

Nah, Gerrard should be played in his best position or not at all.

gerrard's best ever season under houllier was as a right mid in a four. before benitez switched him to playing off the front man.

i'd have gerrard, rooney and joe cole off heskey for the algeria match. playing 4-4-2 will concede the midfield 'cos you can bet they'll play 5.

Lucky to beat Scotland?! They gave us a tough game it's true, but let's not forget that the penalty never should have been given in the first place and was followed by Gazza's defining and most dazzling moment in an England shirt.

Just for you smokie:

I remember looking on in horror as McAllister stepped up as he'd had a <deleted> game. Don't think he ever played for us again. Etched on the memory that one unfortunately....worst 60 secs I can remember. Great goal by Gazza though.

No we're not going anywhere my points been made, just a matter of how many here can come to terms with that and show their bigger character side or not? I suspect not too many based on my experiences of the past...

Yep, well wonderful stuff, but would'nt it be better to wait to see what the teamsheet actually is?

Yeah it would but my point was/is that my perception was not so far off base as was being suggested regardless of what the final roster outcome is..

Isn't it just another opinion?

Watching and listening to French Algerian TV and they are adamant that they are going to go in hard on England tonight in the first 10 minutes.

Plan is to kick England out of their stride.

i dont think they need any help in that department., do they?

the words "headless chickens" come to mind most of the time!

since when did england have a stride?

algeria will play ziani towards the left where he'll hook up with belhadj and they'll look to get in behind glen johnson. not going to be a cakewalk this one and if it's still 0-0 at half time england could get a bit jittery.

ok Stevie - as usual I will beg to differ. Tonight will be 4-1.

Goal scorers : Rooney, Lampard (don't laugh), Crouch and Defoe. Not in that order.

Ive got a fairly good feeling about this game, just as i had a fairly bad one before the USA game ... England will win by 2 clear goals and play quite well ... you heard it here first.

i think england will win, just think that they may be made to work a bit for it. having gary barry back in midfield freeing up lampard and gerrard to work with rooney should help england hugely.
