After reading some good reviews of Somsaks' new restaurant on Soi One, opposite his old one, I decided to go eat there with my wife. The place was quite busy with farangs and their male companions mostly....He comes over and asks us what we want to drink....A kloster for me, and my wife asks for an Orange shake(which is on the menu), to which he replies he will be here until tomorrow if he has to make the shake, so no shake!....Ok, so I tell her order a margarita(also on the menu!)....To which he says he is the one who has to make them and he doesn't have time....OK so one Kloster and one bottle of water....5 minutes later he brings a Singha and a bottle of water.... :D No problem....I drink it and we order our food....A wiener schnitzel for me and some rice dish with shrimps for my better half, He asks do I want French bread or garlic bread with that....French bread please and some Kai sam yang...(A thai appetiser)....The apetiser comes and looks like a condiment dish with some peanuts, lime, red onions and dried shrimp and a salad leaf...What the h3ll was I suppose to do with that??? The main dishes arrive, the shrimp rice dish and the wiener schnitzel with garlic bread not French bread! The food for me and my wife was way too greasy....Dipped in old grease, brown with a strong aftertaste and heavy on the stomach.....I hadn't eaten all day so I had a stab at it.....Bad idea! The mrs. was smart and didn't eat after one bite...So whoever wrote that review last week, you can eat my foocking shorts!! The food is shit, the atmosphere nil, the service horrible and the attitude misplaced buddy.....Avoid it like the pest... :o

I went regularly to his old place and never had a problem. He can be a bit of a cantankerous old git sometimes but the food was always good. Haven't tried the new place though.

I have eaten there twice. 0 for 2. I have not been back in years. I think it is overpriced and has service that is both slow and incompetent.

It is simply overpriced Thai food at low-priced quality. You could eat around the corner instead for 70 baht/plate or less and get equal quality.

Haven`t been there since the wife found a large toe nail in her food.

After complaining was told I wouldn`t be charged for it. ( I suppose the old guy thought that was funny).

The attraction of the old place used to be the large Hornbill birds that used to fly around the open style veranda... but the food was never that impressive. :o
