I m quite new in Bangkok, and looking for some food delivery service. Not really talking about McDonalds and Pizza Hut delivery and alike, I prefer decent food!

So far my friends have only been able to come up with Food By Phone and ChefsXP. ChefsXP is a bit cheaper, but apparently it comes at a cost. I heard some rather negative things about their service, not to mention the following: Chefxp Release All Customer Emails - Thailand Forum

Anyone some experience? Are there any other food delivery services in BKK?

Thanks!

Theres no such thing as "decent food" by delivery.

You want decent food then you best get off your b-m and go out and about.

Nonsense , you're just being an unhelpful loudmouthed know-it-all <deleted>. You can get plenty of excellent grub from Food by Phone.

wow, doesnt take much to push your buttons, does it ??

Nothing totally unhelpful in the first reply. Actually, while Food by Phone may have good food, it is certainly overpriced and some places give you really small portions for your buck. And there's nothing wrong with encouraging people to get out and get some exercise.

Your response is really appreciated, I didn't realise I was a "<deleted>", learn something new everyday. As an aside, I would also say that your response was less than helpful to the OP,:)

I've been using ChefXP for about two years. By and large the service has been very good, the variety is the best of any phone service, and there's no markup.

IMO the email thing was overblown. I only got 2 emails following the accidental mass mailing with addresses. I think most of the folks who had problems were those who replied to the emails. Anyway the company apologised and it hasn't happened again since.

A lot of local Thai restaurants will also deliver in their area. You'd have to ask around where you live. I love my khao tom place that will deliver at 3am.

Have used ChefXPs a few times and found the delivery to be good and always within the hour they say

Order Tony Romas ribs and was happy

Great ribs and great app combo

Order from Larrys dive and was ripped off on portion

There rack of ribs had 5 measly ribs

11 french fries and 2 spoonfuls of cole slaw

Some you win .... some you lose

Live and learn

I also support ChefsXP - there are hiccups in any operation and I've encountered a few myself but frankly I find them to be a very convenient and friendly operation.

And I didn't get any of the spam, no idea why.

I always go for Food by Phone. I m very satisfied with them. Yes, you pay a bit more, but you get a better service and I think they have a better range of restaurants! Besides that, Chefs XP don't have a book I can order from (and I just don't like their website...). If you don't want to pay a lot, just go around the corner enjoy one of the food stall's dishes or order from McDonaldsAnd if you think the portions are too small, just order from another restaurantsmile.gif!

Really, this is getting silly. Surely the Mods can point all you newbies to the nearest topic on this that has been discussed as early as last two weeks.

Failing that, see that little thing at the top right called search? enter the words food by phone or chefsxp in there.

food by phone employee.......! never fails to amuse me that foodbyphone have to try hard to drum up business due to the fact they are losing all the customers for being over priced!

No need to get rude. When I typed "food by phone" in that little thing at the top right called search, the following message appeared: "One or all of your search keywords were below 3 characters or you searched for words which are not allowed, such as 'html', 'img', etc, please increase the length of these search keywords or choose different keywords."

Typing in "Chefs XP" gives the same message as I got after typing in food by phone.

But yes, I should have tried chefsxp or foodbyphone as well...

To all the others, thanks for your comments!

ChefsXP - I use them all the time when I'm in Bangkok. I've ordered roast beef dinners, sandwiches, bottles of water, curry, chilli + chips, tomato soup, pizza, pie, beef stew, tacos, ice cream and even cigarettes from them. Excellent service, I wish they had something similar where I live in the UK when I'm staying here.

I don't give a crap if the driver speaks English or not so long as he delivers the food, I don't need a book to thumb through as I own a computer.

I tried food by phone as well, same thing, just more expensive. I think food by phone used to be open 30 minutes later at one point although I'm not sure on that.

me prefering food by phone does not make me their employee, it makes me their customer. I like coca cola more than pepsi, but that doesn't make me their employee either...

I have used chefs xp for 18 months but have recently stopped, almost every order in the last couple months has been wrong.

The simple things are neglected like certain toppings missing of my burrito/pizza. Peas or chips or gravy missing from my pie, chips, peas and gravy dinner , curry without the rice, pizza upside down and so on.

It may be cheaper but if it arrives and is inedible then its not much of a saving.

Also the management at chefs xp do very little to look after their customers, they are for more concerned in keeping hold of the restaurants

That’s my opinion anyway.

I've never really understood why people get emotional at topics that have been discussed before. I didn't realise we were on the cutting edge of social discourse here.

It's all opinions right? Things can change. Take a Valium imo. FoodbyPhone will pick them up for you. laugh.gif

I'm a fairly loyal FoodbyPhone customer but I have a lot of time for ChefsXP as well. Both companies are freaking amazing and I wish we had either or back home in Australia. The only thing that tilts me really is their limited hours. I'm certain I know enough people alone that would ensure a skeleton night shift would be more than profitable.

Sometimes I feel a bit guilty at the price disparity but I just don't really understand why ChefsXP can't do the little things right with their website [full of bugs, just shockingly bad - they don't accept CCs securely...is it still done over the phone? - I mean, that's all the EASY stuff to get right....they get the hard stuff right more often than not, but they would take a lot more of FbP's market share if they just introduced their website to the 21st century....]

Magnificent companies however - the both of them. Feels almost sacrilegious to criticise either.

Sorry if this is addressed in the other thread - I'm totally not going to look at it just out of principle now....but what's the deal with condo access for FbP and Cxp? Last year, my condo [far more 'high-end' than the one I'm in now] had security walk them to the door - I think mostly just courteous obviously.

I'm in a new condo building now and the building management REFUSE to let them in the building unattended. They claim security issues - but I have two arguments to counter such ridiculous faux logic:

1. I can bring in ANYONE I like and leave them to wander around unescorted. I have done this often. Management has no problem with that.

2. But somehow they have a problem with a fully uniformed FbP / Cxp rider - who I imagine would be happy to leave their ID with reception for the 3 min it would take them in the elevator to the 20th floor - carrying stacks of hot food / bags of drinks etc etc.

How is this logical? I've tried talking sense to the building management but they're not speaking that particular language. But I am a lazy lazy lazy person. Making that redundant trek twice a day to the lobby and lugging all the food / drinks back up myself...just annoys the hel_l out of me. Mostly because it's just such a nonsensical policy. Is it like that everywhere?

Anyonetried this one? http://www.e-buono.com/category.php?id_category=8

Made my first order last week…good stuff, althoughthey don`t have the same selection you may expect from Food by Phone…no pasta, pizza or ready meal, but selection of cheese and cold cuts is superb! Freedelivery as well.

Bangkok Delivery is finally kicking into gear.

There is http://www.central.co.th/th/foodloft_concept.php and http://www.tops.co.th/topsshoponline/intro.aspx both delivering online now as part of the Central.co.th network of online > home delivery project....

Dragon Express - nice Chinese food

Bascilico - Italian & pizza

SnP - Nice Thai food (if you know what to order as some items are a bit dodgy. The curries are very nice)

Thanks for that. Food Loft delivery looks promising, good selection and significantly less expensive than the restaurants served by ChefXP, etc.
