We have UBC (Gold) mainly for the English Premiership Matches, History, Discovery, Movies channels. Does anybody know if it is possible to also have cable installed? We previously had cable (2 years ago from Phuket Cable Co and was about 300 bht per month) so that is all set up to the house, but just wondering if you can have both cables for UBC and cable going into the back of the same TV?

We currently watch UBC on AV1, and from memory we used to watch cable via TV channel 1. We live in the Kamala area.

If anybody has this, or knows if it is possible we would appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks

Yes, you can.

The cable from the cable tv service will plug into the aerial port on the back of your tv. Then you need to tune the tv to receive the new channels. Maybe the Cable Guy can do this for you.

The cable feeds into the TV's tuner..

The UBC feeds into the TV's external inputs (AV1 in that case).

Simple.. Both can be done easily.

Hi, it sounds to me as though you've cracked it , if you are Jenny this is from one girl to another, watch all the boy tech heads come out and disagree now, please i'm first in the cue.

UBC, yes watch it via AV1 or AV2, which ever it has been plugged into at the rear of your TV, 2 types of cable the standard 90 plus channel PA or dolphin simple plugs into your TV Ariel socket on the rear of the TV and the TV is tuned into the 90 plus channels.

Second is cable TV via a similar box as the UBC, but as it say's it's cable, this would work on your TV on let say AV2 if UBC is using AV1

Come on boys, pull my theory apart

I just had a similar thing but with multiple TV's and how to watch and split between UBC and cable throughout the apartment

Thanks so much to all of you for such fast replies - will speak with our Landlord tomorrow to get the cable people in :D

ladykata - yes this is 'Jenny' so a girl - but the 'Royal' part is my husband! Normally me that posts on here anyway! Thanks for your input also, from memory my cable was just the one cable (no box or anything) and the cable went in the back of the TV, so presume it is the ariel socket. So hopefully we can get this sorted without too much hassle :)

Ok, my cable tv provider is just that, cable tv through a cable. No added box in the house. Cable straight into the back of the Tv. Therefore, for me, to watch the cable Tv have to click on the TV button on my remote.

Can i ask what do you want around of applause, the OP had a genuine query, wow and you've got a TV remote, please if the OP is a woman it's not such a silly request.

If your TV has two cable connections on it you should be able to do that, but it probably has one. In that case you can get a simple cable switching device. This allows for the two cables to connect to the device, as in you would get a switch with two in and one out. Run a cable from the out to the tv, connect the two cables to the two (or more) in connections. Simply use the manual switch to go from one cable to the other.

Thanks again to metisdead and ladykata. I had heard that you could view cable via a box - but the cable I was after is the one were you just use your TV remote to change the channels. Apologies if I didn't make that clear - but I just assumed that you could only get the cable 'without a box' here in Phuket????

To be honest with you I'm not sure what our TV has got!! But certainly the UBC is connected to the TV via the 'red, yellow, white' cables (I'm sure there is a technical term for them!) and there is an 'arial' socket - so I think I will be OK, but will get the Landlord / cable company to sort it out (I hope!). Thanks for taking the time to reply though :)
