JulieWilliams Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Can anyone suggest a place in Bangkok or surrounds to shop for good quality sequin and embroidered fabric. I've tried Pratunam and Chatachuk but it seems to be the same old same old. I read somewhere about an Indian market which had good quality fabric but I can't find the thread. Can anyone help there, or with suggestions on where the secret non-touristy fabric market is hidden? Julie
nowork114 Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Try Pahurat market (near "The Old Siam" shopping center) - lots of fabric there
lottee1000 Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 I was also going to say Pahurat, near China town. the market, plus the general area, is the Indian market you're probably referring to. I was there Saturday buying silk for bridesmaid dresses, and some of the fabrics are stunning.
JulieWilliams Posted June 22, 2010 Author Posted June 22, 2010 Thanks for suggestions. Will try there. I'm more after sequins than silks tho.
JulieWilliams Posted September 10, 2010 Author Posted September 10, 2010 Well thank you everyone. After a wander around the area and Pahurat I found some lovely Indian merchants who had just what I was after!
hughben Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Have you tried Sampeng lane? Here is a map which may help: http://bkkquilt.wordpress.com/sampeng/
